My recent fun: Genesis coupe vs MS3, Focus ST, newer WRX, and Cobra
This may get a little long. My cars are both under the knife, so I've been driving my friend's Genesis coupe 2.0 lately since it just sits here while he is at college. He came back last weekend and we installed his DW 800cc injectors and my job has been to tune it on E85 with the Dynojet CMD piggyback.
Here is the car
2010 base model Automatic
When I first flew down to AZ to move him up here and drove it I was extremely disappointed with how slow it was stock. We damn near lost to an FRS. Once we got up here we added a 2.5" downpipe and 3" catback, along with some suspension, then he got a Dynojet CMD piggyback and we put the 20 psi base map on it, which woke it up a bit. He then got some charge pipes and a bigger FMIC. Last weekend we put the injectors in and I started working on the tune.
My first night out I came across a newer WRX hatch, all stock. The gen was on 18 lbs and the map clamp we ran for the pump gas 20 lb map (timing is not adjustable so have to use map clamping to make it land in the portion of the timing map you desire), and fueling wasn't perfect. We ran from 40 and by 100 he had a car on me.
I then ran a friend's new focus ST, all stock. 40-100 he had a half car.
Over the next few days I played with the car in my spare time, got it on 22lbs and holding 15 up top (baby stock td04-13t like the 02-05 wrx's), got it clamped down so I can run a bit more timing to take advantage of the corn sauce as well.
My first run on the more dialed in tune was against an 8th Gen civic Si with intake, header, exhaust and Kpro tune. I've seen this car edge out a couple stock LSJ's for reference. We did 2 40 rolls and a 20 roll, and by 125 I had about 3-4 cars every time.
The next night I re ran the ST. Did a 40 roll and by 120 I was a good 4 cars ahead of him. I knew the car was running much better then before at that point
I then ran my roommate's 98 Cobra. It has the usual intake, headers, x pipe, catback, 4.10's and has 10.5:1 pistons instead of the stock 9.8:1. He has a 150 shot but wasn't using it. The car ran 13.1's @103 on slicks before the motor build and headers. We ran from 40 to about 125 and he ended up a half car ahead of me.
Finally I ran a friend's speed 3 who really wanted a piece! His car is still stock with just the res and muffler deleted. It has never lost to another speed 3 or 6 around town for some reason, and we have raced a few since it used to be my friend's little brothers car and we would take it out racing He was alone and I had a passenger. 40 roll, 3 honks and he started creeping ahead a half car, and at about 100 I came around him and at 130 I ended up a half car ahead of him.
Anyways, those are my stories of entertainment in the past 6 days Sorry it got long. Its more of a review with stories lol.

I have one of the speed 3 race I suppose I can post lol I'll just have to upload it.
I am supposed to race a stock evo X tomorrow night now and anyone else who may want to play, so I'll take videos if I do that. Racing in slower cars is so much fun! Not even joking. There are so many cars to play with

Anything quicker just thinks you're some little **** being a ricer.
It can be tough getting guys to race.

Using the Dynojet CMD piggyback for tuning. Basically has the main fuel table, boost offset table, and map and tps clamp tables. The fuel and boost tables are a percentage over or under stock, and the clamp tables are sensor voltage clamps. It's a little barbaric, but it works and is much cheaper than a Haltech for what he wants.
And yes, a stock LNF would likely pull this thing or be real close lol, but it is pretty fun for what it is.

I have HPT, Ecuflash, Evoscan, countless Cobb ATR files, Uprev, and a few others, and of course none of them work for that car lol. The CMD is a nice little solution though, just not as thorough as most would like, but you can make due with it until you get into the bigger setups.

However, if his heart is set on a bigger turbo....I won't really object lol not my money. Either way, I continue to drive it until next weekend lol.

He doesn't know a ton about cars by any means lol, and they found this one for a good price. I told him it was mod friendly and that it would be a good car for him to learn on. However, I didn't really expect him to want over 300whp.
We did a 3" turboback on the speed 3 and ran again. He now gets about 2 cars on the genesis by 130.
Also ran a friend's charger that night. Auto v8 non-srt with the 365hp or whatever, he just has muffler deletes. 40-130 he got a fender after 120.

Ran an Evo X with just muffler deletes and intake in the genesis the other night. from 40 he got out about 2 cars to 100 then I stopped his pull. By 110 I had started pulling back, and by 120 I was at his bumper, 130 I was passing him and when we let off at 145 I had about a car and a half on him. Surprising for such a small turbo.

Well it was a different evo. I never got to race the other one, but it was also stock. I still have to upload the MS3 race. Maybe I can do that from my phone.
I'll probably be getting some races in this week in my winter redline Those I'll make sure to film.
