thanks, i think it's all about the right ingredients in the right place, man. any winner's car needs to be a complete package. a slammed/stance car needs other things as well like being wingless, stickarz, etc. a more racecar approach needs engine mods through the hoodblanket and tircked out suspension and custom fabbed parts. a stockish looking balt needs to be THAT clean and subtle to win. i think mine won because its done up to about the same level in most aspects of the car and was done in good taste.

i am suprised i won with fender stripes though

and to piggyback the guy or two above, i also miss seeing wildly modified balts running for cotm. its too bad ppl always have to hate on them so hard because ive seen a few that really are awesome. granted, plenty that i just can't throw a bone at, but plenty that are just awesome pioneers doing their thing... and not paying any mind to this thread

well look at these past COTM winners, they're so wild and cool lookin, (I dont LOVE lambo doors, but they do look cool at shows) but those are well fitted tasteful body kits and properly painted, I love these cars!

I cant BELIEVE this used to be cool on this site! now lately this is all just "rice" but I think its just neat to see these cars so amazingly done up.

and this base model has CHROME!! and it won COTM?! witchcraft damn it

TwiSSted or something like that. He has a really nice car.

People have been telling me that I should run for COTM for the last like 2-3 years maybe one day I will try.

I personally lovs the bc2 kit for these cars. I just know I will get crucified if I got it lol. Same with the g speed carbon fiber hood. Most functional but most considered "rice" hood lol

Yep that was Donna from cobalt-addiction. Had the baller wheels at the time "rennen rc2". With their custom wide body kit and was twincharged. Never ran right from what I remember.

Also had vette brakes

Another very functional hood considered rice. Reverse cowl called the "invader" hood. Very functionsl and helped releave engine bay temps

I concur about the Gen1's. I bet at the time though there wasn't a lot of options available.

Agreed, hoping to build some eventually. Just hope they turn out okay. I'm think of just using my headlights on the car and getting them done in 1-2 days while I leave it parked. I actually had a set of black gen 4s with hids. I never ended up installing them and just sold them locally to eventually get a set of retros instead. I just knew I'd never be happy with them unless they were retros.

I hate body kits on any car.

Haven't found one I like on any make or model (well the Evo and WRX/STI exceptions)

***Edit ***

Okay there's more. I just went searching for tasteful body kits and liked the FR-S and there were some cool looking Mustangs.

So I change my statement to, "more often than not I hate body kits especially when the car is daily driven"

most the kits look made for imports (or replica's of) and it makes them look so much better next to a domestic with one.
i only like a few kits, the SS kit is purrty enough for me i just need a rear lip for my sedan

i dont like the rear ss/tc/sc lips on the sedans.. ruins the smooth flow of the rear end to me. I'd think about more of a ss/na lip on the rear though as an option

Eh, everyone I talk to when I am out in it that wants to talk about it is interested in it and have thought about getting one, never had a gay comment unless I have not heard it and in that case they are too scared to say so to my face. I just tell people who ask why I decided on it, that you have to just drive one and not a casual drive but really get down to the nitty gritty. The handling is just pure nonsense haha. I used to take a turn in my SS that is pretty hairy at what I thought was fast, now in the miata, add another 20 mph. Its great knowing you do not have to slow down much at all to take turns and its even funner taking looped on-off ramps at insane speeds. Biggest factor like anything is tires, if its a cheap set you know the deal.

As for hating on the balts, its typical. Its been summed up good by a few in here. I never once got upset about bad comments about my car, typically ends with them being dumb founded as I leave them in the wake of my exhaust OR I tell them about the car, show some knowledge and let them know I know its not a great car but for the money, its a nice deal compared to other crap in the category. I loved it and that is all that mattered. I had 3 altogether, granted one was just for a few days. An LT then got a base model with add ons like keyless, power windows and cruise and did some stuff to it till I finally gave in and picked up the SS SC. I would have one again with no issue either. Did the job and the SS/SC was a blast and I do not regret putting nearly 10 large into it. My only issue was having to sell it which I almost decided not too but the money talked.

That would look nice on the SS/TC sedans!

I still feel GM could have done better on the sedan styling....

Looks great up to the rear door, then the rest looks like an after thought.

The rear door window does not flow well in my eyes.

I bought my LSJ because of these criteria.

1. It was a manual.
2. It was a chevy.
3. The gas mileage and performance are perfect for what I want.
4. I got it for about 6-7k less than a LNF with more miles.
5. I got a great deal on a CLEAN. BONE STOCK. LSJ.

I know the LNF's are faster. I know they have nicer seats and features. I've driven several.. and I cannot myself justify spending the extra money. I get compliments for my car a lot.. The only times I am hated on are by people who drive pieces of **** and are jelly. I like my friend's LNF. I just wouldn't spend the money he did on a used cobalt when I could basically just buy a nicer new car. Just remember, haters gonna hate. Someone will always talk ****. Just grow up and ignore it.

yeah my thoughts on the sedan thing too. sorry if it seems like hate mongering! ive seen the sedan with the ss rear lip and i think it really makes it look more sporty. its just that, well if you have an ss sedan, the front looks nice, but the rear just looks like a sedan cobalt. which doesn't look BAD, but just kinda... meh. the bodyline just doesnt do it for me either, i like the coupes teardrop roof design

i love my plain jane rear end... more sleeper factor and it makes it harder for the ricer to figure out if it's a regular cobalt or an SS when it's in front of him and he's contemplating racing it. but yes given a choice i would prefer it came with the rear lip.. it looks nicer.
