Ricer Fly-by
So I'm driving home from work today and this 06 Civic with a CF hood and a fart can rapidly pulls right up on the bumper of my 2.4 as I'm getting on the interstate. There was a Caddy CTS in front driving like a grandma, so I was stuck, hoping this guy would get off my bumper. The on-ramp was a winding S shaped sucker about a half mile long. The Civic was right on my tail, weaving left and right. It looked like he wanted to pass on the right one minute and on the left the next.
When I finally got to the end of on ramp, the Caddy driver was doing 40ish, so I whip around him with the Honda in my draft. In front of me is nothing but open road. Well, I nail it to the floor for what seemed like 2-3 seconds till I hit 80. When I looked back, the Honda was nowhere close to me.
It's like he backed off after hearing my exhaust growl, not even trying after the show he just put on. At that point, I figured he lost his nerve, so I pulled over and put the cruise control on. He fell back to about a quarter mile behind, then almost a minute later, came the 100+mph ricer flyby. Here I am, laughing my ass off, while Mr. Honda thinks he had a great kill.
Where's a cop when you need one?

Part B: Why would Mr. Honda think he won? He probably wanted to go again.
Part C: Exactly...

B: I think if he wanted to go again, that he would have slowed down and gotten alongside of me, attempted to get my attention, and then gunned it. That's what I would have done.
However, I'm not going to race a guy from an 80mph roll on the street. He had his opportunity when we passed the Caddy together - lots of open road for fun and games.
He chose not to avail himself of the opportunity after clearly signaling his intentions.
Sorry, I think he was just an annoyong, gutless ricer. IMHO

A: I was following the Caddy at a reasonable, safe distance, waiting for the on ramp to end so I could safely pass, not running up on his bumper and weaving from side to side.

B: I would have done the same [slowed up, got attention] but you never know.
