Scythe vs K20 Swapped 03 Coupe Civic
Scythe vs K20 Swapped 03 Coupe Civic
Well this is an interesting story.
I was driving down La Grange road yesterday with my friend Chris. There is this G37x that keeps swerving through traffic and flying up behind us. So I give him the 'intake salute'. Spool up a bit and let off. This continues for a while but a spot never opens up and he turns off.
But up ahead, I see a red honda badge on a silver 03 coupe, ya know the ones with the weird triangle tails? He has an exhaust and he is going the same way I was going. So I come up next to him and notice it doesn't sound like a D series engine. He notices me and revs up. So I immediately bite. I get up next to him and downshift, and he does too. We're going about 30 mph now and he looks over at me and says "You know this isn't just a civic right?" I nod and honk it off. He immediately pulls a hair in front of me but as I spool up I steadily start pulling him. I'm in competitive mode so I NLS to third and right as I do that, the car pops out of gear and there is no slack anywhere. I'm like WTF. I obviously slow down and pull into a church parking lot. I pop the hood and check around, nothing clunking and no metal anywhere, g85 trans is fine. So me and my buddy push it into a parking spot and take apart the plastic around the shifter. We find that the plastic connecting the shifter to the shift cable had snapped off. Big sigh of relief. We manage to snap it back in and it works fine, but when I give any force into a gear it snaps out again. Going to get it warrantied today.
The guy with the civic turned around though and came in there. Like a good guy he checked on me and made sure nothing serious broke or anything and we just talked cars for a bit. Really nice guy. He popped his hood to show me what he had. JDM K20, full bolt ons, and hondata. Thing was pretty damn quick and sounded good. But yeah, fun times.

Brad! How is yous? Need to get an Ohio meet goin so I can drive up there this time! =)
Yeah, I just didn't have time to pull him sadly.
What did you do to fix yours?
Common problems with cobalts. My old SS/SC did that so I personally modded it with stronger parts inside. There is a few simple fixes to this problem, and over the years when I owned a cobalt those little things that constantly went wrong just encouraged me to sell it. Even a K20 fully bolt on civic should get destroyed by a SS/TC...

Make no mistake about the fact that a "fully bolt on" K20 Civic is capable of deep 12 second passes. Alot of people don't realize how many bolt on modifications can be done. A full bolt on isn't just intake, header, and exhaust. Therefore I believe you are wrong, unless it's a K20A3.

I like all performance cars, I wasn't knocking the honda, just saying the story is all.
I would agree to this statement!
No it's alright I was just responding to rallySS's comment.
He kept up for a good moment while I was spooling up. He pulled a hair on me, but as I was going to shift I was starting to pull him hard, then the cable snapped.

No my good sir.
I'll PM you when you get back on, its no big secret.
I was under the impression that NLS only worked in competitive mode, thats the only time I've done it. Hm.
^x2. I pressed the button 2.5 times, put me into FAIL mode. Allows me to break **** and push 45 PSI!
