Silverado vs Ram

i know that its not a cobalt or any sick fast car but i thougt you might enjoy it anyways.

the other night my friend and i were just going to get some food at about midnight in his 1996 silverado 5.7(beautiful shape).. we were moving rather quickly on a small street next to the local ford dealership. i saw a riced out Sunfire on the main 4 lane street and im like, get him (it fun to kill cars like that in a pick up) and we get going and i see a ram(98 ish) on the same street were on.. i realized it was stoped because we were gaining on it rather quickly.. we stopped and two kids were in it.. they both looked back and nailed it.. so we followed, the chevy reeled him in every time. we followed for a while and we got a few 40 mph runs.. we pulled on it a little each time and we finally got to a red light with no cars ahead. the ram sounded like it had work done to it.. exaust upgrade, but no duals. he started doing a break stand and when the other light turned yellow he went, we waited for ours to turn green and took off.. we cought him at about 55 and inched past him and we shut her down at 90. we pulled over and the ram followed.. he rolled down his window and gave my friend a high five and said he has never raced a chevy pick up before and was supprised. we talked for a min and left.. now i see him all over town, doing do nuts and stuff in snow filled parking lots. can wait to get my s-10 4.3 backfromt he shop , i wanna run with it! lol its truckville here, we have to wait til summer to get the good toys out.. BMW 1000 CC crotch rocket.. my friend (don't know the model) and my soon to have camaro SS (1999) can't wait!!.

yeah 1996.. but it looks as good as new.. its a beautiful truck.

Im not too sure. i don't think it was a 5.9.. it was a reg cab 4wd with a loud exaust. i ran a 5.9 with my dads silverado.. 99 classic with a new engine.. 355 bored over 20 and balanced.. he got walked..

Those Hemis do pack a punch! i wanna see a siverado 6.0 Vortec Max run a Hemi 5.7

I too have a 96 Silverado with 5.7 Vortec. Yes they do haul butt! Mine has been power programed, and also has a K&N Filter charger on it. From about a 30-35mph roll, punch it and the truck will literately go sideways from all the torque.

Having absolutely no weight in the back probably also helps.

yeah the no weight thing helps.. but those 5.7s run like a bat out of hell, no question about it. i have been in the truck when he raced a v-6 mustang (95 or something).. if you don't believe me, oh well i was there, and in disbelief.. yeah it was a riced out mustang

I had a 97 stepside with a 350 and a 2000 with the 327 I think (5.3). On that 5.3 with a power programmer, Cold Air, and dual exhaust I'd give Mustang GTs a run for their money and would eat most ricers out on the road. The expression on those snot nosed kids when a big black extended cab truck blows past them is just priceless

Exclamation 6.0 Vortec Max beats 5.7 Hemi

I read an article somewhere that compared a Dodge with the 5.7 Hemi and a Silverado with a 6.0 Vortec Max. They stated that as expected the 6.0 out accelerates the 5.7 Hemi. I'll try to find the magazine and get more details. My thing is: Dodge makes a Ram SRT 10 and a Jeep SRT 8 with a 6.1L Hemi; they have a 5.7L Hemi Ram, so what about having a Ram SRT 8 with the 6.1L Hemi?? Just seems like a great way to fill the gap between the Ram 5.7 Hemi and the Ram SRT 10.

that would be so sweet a whole line up of sport trucks.
i wanna see like the muscle truck wars.....

the trucks should have all the following....
CHEVY
Colorado Sport 6.0 345 hp v-8
Colorado SS.. 6.0 390hp LS-2

Silverado Sport 6.0 400hp LS-2
silverado SS 7.0 505 hp LS-7

DODGE
Dekoda SXT 5.7 345 hp HEMI
Dekoda SRT 8 with the 6.1 410 engine

Ram SXT 6.1 425 HEMI
RAM SRT 10.. yeah its all said and done

Ford
SVT LIGHTNING
475 hp GT-500 engine or 550 GT engine (no longer made)
