this video has NOTHING to do with the subject on hand here. but its entertaining what a torquless honda can do. keep in mind these 350z's are faster stock for stock than a ss/tc.

Yeah..that's why you can find it in the Malibu, HHR, Saturn Vue, Aura, etc...NA 4cyls isn't there performance engines.

Touche'

I started to add "also one that makes near 200lbs torque", but figured that would be mean.

He said his Vtec window was from 3200 to 5800, so what does that mean for his overall powerband?

lol. yea i know torque isnt there, but its not needed. haha. the vtec window is for fuel savings. pretty much, he can be crusing at 3200-5800 rpm and not in vtec. but if he floors it from 3200-5800, vtec will engage. after 5800 rpm, vtec engages reguardless. thats why its now i-vtec instead of just vtec.

Turbo is the only way I would go with the SI. I considered AJP's turbos when I had mine.

well if you want to get into it, the k20 is just a 197 bhp 4 banger thats not even meant to be high performance. their high performance 4 banger was the f20 and f22.

I have never owned a Honda .... or any foreign car for that matter. I can look past my own choice in car and see why others may have decided to buy something different ...... Thats why when I see Cobalt owners calling other car's ......of the same or higher quality "piece's of ****" .... rice .... ect.....ect....... I cant help but play devil's advocate . Hell .... we all drive 4 banger econo boxes.

i'm trying to find one, and if I do.... its getting a turbo LSJ

that is a '77 Sunbird... lightweight, RWD, begging for some modern technology... and it could look nice with some modern touches in the cosmetic dept.(modern suspension, wheels, tint, etc, removal of body molding, etc.)

http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/cto/2063169843.html

thinking about calling him, if I could get pictures... i'd drive to Michigan to check it out

I used to own a 08 Civic Si. And even though I liked the look and interior better then my balt, driving that thing was a pain in the ass. Revving to 4k not getting anywhere fast FTL.

havent read any of the previous posts but my personal opinion is that they are both pretty cool cars. the si's are pretty cool and with good money can be total animals. same with the ss/sc and ss/tc balts. BUUUTTT most people on here arent going to have a 9-11 second car. most people just want a car that can beat on most v8's or run high 12's low 13s iSH.

here's some vids i found on youtube. of a i/e/tune ss/tc vs a 8 psi turbo k20 si

YouTube - cobalt ss turbo vs civic si turbo 60-140 mph

YouTube - cobalt ss turbo vs civic si turbo part 2

both pretty good races

yes indeed good races. however that paticular si has a crappy tune and is on the greddy kit. a full race, srt, ajp, etc si would blow a ss/tc away. some would give ryans lsj a run for his money.

Definitely some good runs there. I agree with Dart, however. Some tuning would probably make a decent difference. AJP definitely has a much better turbo system than Greddy. Either way, thats a massive gain for the SI to be able to run with that TC.

agree ...but in the long run its a car with $900-$1800 in mods vs a car with at lest 6k in mods maybe more ... any car can be fast if you dump enough cash into it.
