You shoulda been up there the time I went my 2nd time. There was a black sti running low 12s (he didn't know his car had launch control, shoulda had 11s), and an evo running high 11s. They were cool to watch. They both trapped around 120-125 I believe. The sti had a higher trap but I think the Evo was pulling better off the line.

 

Nice, I gotta tell you guys about my plans. I may see low 12's one day. I've been wanting to get lower payments and lower insurance for a while now. Not to mention I want set myself up for a future family, so a 4 door would be optimal. I was thinking an Audi S4. It has a v6 Biturbo engine. And I could use the second half of my enlistment bonus to get a kit for it that puts out 460hp and 455lb-ft tq (AWE Tuning). I hope I can find one in the price range I'm looking for, and hopefully I can get the local shop (Blouch Turbo) to get me a good price on a biturbo setup.

 

Yup, been my experience that most guys in AWD usually rely on that hole shot to win the whole race. Take that away from them and most often they're left behind in a hurry.

 

OMG yes, once I got traction I locked those tires on the road I pulled too easy (this is the WRX I'm refering to, not the STi). If it had been a full quarter mile I would have toasted him. Unfortuneatly it was in the middle of town on a two lane road, the distance between lights was maybe 1000ft.

 

my buddy is selling his 01 s4, you should get a newer one like 04+ those have v8's 4.2l i believe and with the miltek exhaust they sound sooooo awesome.. my buddy is getting an 04.5 s4 this summer his 01 is pretty fast though and in the winter it drives better than my 4x4 s10

 

yeah, i was thinking about that. But I could get a 2000/2001 cheaper, and they don't have as many parts out for the 4.2 and if they do they're probably more expensive. And I was also taking the winter into consideration, we get lots of snow here, but I can't afford two payments for car and insurance, so AWD is ideal.

 

I was racing a 5 series BMW one night and we had a buddy with a stock WRX behind us that was playing keep-up during our runs. We went from 40 rolls and the WRX guys said we was leaving him like he was sitting still....

 

hmm. yeah, i even raced (from a roll) one of the new wrx's (07/08) and beat him by a ton. The base WRX's aren't that fast without work done.

 

There is absolutely NO WAY anyone has beat an wrx/sti... they are the fastest cars out there!!!

Yeah, like i said in the original post, I'm not neive enough to think that a better driver wouldn't have kicked my ass, but this guy was a tool and obviously didn't know how to take advantage of an AWD launch... so I made him regret spending 30 grand and peering through his nose at what I could afford.

 

Wow... dude... I didn't even notice that you are from central PA!! I grew up near Altoona... I now live in Erie though... small world!! Where did this happen? I know the area really well...

 

I'm from Lebanon, we have our infamous "Strip" It's 422 west down to 8th street, and then you drive up and reconnect with 422 east, which raps around and reconnects with the westbound.

 

Tom, you got any idea when your header/dp combo is gonna be on the car? The guys at the garage are supposed to let me know when they are going to Cecil. I know they wanted to go before it got hot out, its 70+ today... I hope they didn't forget about me.

 

Ohh... ok... complete opposite side of the state... haha... good job though... can't stand people like that... no matter what they drive!

 

yeah, it's getting pretty warm. I'll be able to put in my order for it by the end of this month. you may have to go without me. bills are tight this month. I'll probably only have it delivered and installed by early May.

 

Thats cool. I might even end up taking a trip down to Reading and go to Maple Grove. My buddies I go to school with live down that way. The guy with the mr2 wants to run it there sometime.
