Well a long time ago (about 6 months) I told the GM dealership to look at the paint chipping on the rims and finally 6 months later they have arrived.Well not exactly. I was called last week and told that they were inspected for chipps and scratches from the factory and I dropped off my car today. I called them at the end of the work day and they said that one rim had a scratch on it and that they were going to overnight one . So now I'm tearing it up in an 07 equinox.till tommorow I hope. On the paper work it said that they were going to be darker.

 

I just noticed that one of my wheels is chipping too. I'm just going to either get them powder coated at the place accross the street from my house or sell them off and get something wider/lighter.

Is this a serious problem with the SC wheels?

 

if i understand you, GM is repainting your stock wheels..good stuff...all my dealership does is add more chips to my rims everytime they re-mount tires on them...

...guess i will get mine powdercoated as well at some point.

 

Well friday they call me and they sy it was done and to pick it up. So I go over there at lunch and the rims are from an 07 SS/SC. Granted I like the 07 rims but hey are different from the 05 and 06SS/SC's. I noticed this right off the bat and the service writer said well thier brand new rims and maybe they don't make the 05 and06's anymore. I took the car back to work because my lunch was ending and I called the service manager and said to him did you even compare the new to the old and he said why what's wrong with the new ones. I said their great but they are for and 07 and I would take them but I want to keep the car stock since they made so few of them in 05. He said well bring it back on Monday and I'll have to pull the vin off this 06 SS/SC in the service bay that was new and see what he part number is for the rims and see if that part number super seeds to the rims that I got. I said well what if it does and he said well then we wil remount your old rims and he'll have to talk to the district manager and the manufacture of the rim and see if they cover for the repaint of the rim...UUUUUUGGGHHHHHHHH this makes me soo mad. 6 MONTHS this has been going on. Then ontop of that I had a bubble in the paint under the hood and along the black insulation and asked them to touch it up and they did not match the color the right way and it looked like some one had taken blue magic marker and went over it. Need less to say they are going to fix that too.. I'll keep everyone posted. Sorry about the rant.

 

haha, i got 3 new wheels shipped almost instantly to my dealership once i showed them. But I also brought my dad with me. Three brand new rims! They are even replacing one that I road rashed! thank god...And NO, i do not have any special type of rim and tire warranty.

 

Well talked to the dealer and they gave me the new rims from the 07 SS/SC and gave me back my old rims today. So has anyone had them repowder coated and how much did it cost.
I'm finally glad the rim battle is over . I 'm glad I have the old rims back at least instead of being screwed around for 9 months.
