09 cobalt SS test drive

I was on the Internet last night searching for a SS in my area when I stumbled upon a black SS 09 coupe. I went to bed happy that I would go and test drive it the next morning. When I pulled up the website again today, I noticed the price had dropped to 22,255 for a "red tag" sale. This ss has no optional equipment on it, but the price is still way under what I expected.

When I went to the dealership, the salesman made a comment that several dealers in New York had wanted to purchase the SS, which could have been a lie for all I know; but it does make sense if he's trying to get more money than the other New York dealerships will pay for it...

I really liked the SS, and I didn't even push it hard on the test drive. What do you guys think of this mysterious price drop? Worth the no lsd, sunroof etc?

How many miles on the car? You sure it is not a program car? Get one with the LSD if you can.

I'm with that! Holy **** was I just in awe about how much knowledge the sales people were LACKING in knowledge of these cars. Sheesh...

The dealer I chose was because they are NOT commission but salary. (BTW it's a Ford and GM dealer... kind of weird) But they have never had a Cobalt SS. At least not an 08 or 09. They didn't even know it was turbo!! They thought it was still SC.

I know there are a lot of cars and trucks but they are in the business to sell and I think they should be required to know at least some basics. Good grief.

so, comes to find out this SS does have the LSD and a spare tire.

The best news is, I bought it

Paid 22,225 on it with the GM red tag pricing, pics to follow tomorrow when I pick her up!

thanks, please excuse the pictures, it started to pour while I was in the process and I will take better ones later. LOVE the car so far,(not used to power at all lol) but it makes me a little worried about winter driving.

I happen to live in the Canterbury/Lisbon area and bought my TC from cargill chevrolet in Putnam. Excellent service so far from those guys. Good to see another CT person on here.

yes 22,225 before taxes and extra fees, from the red tag sale that was introduced the day I went to look at it. LOL I was meant for this car apparently...

Now a question to the 08-09 owners, do you find gear changes to be noisy? Shifting makes an odd clunking noise, wasn't sure if its just the way the car is or something abnormal. This isn't noise from the clutch, I hear it coming from underneath the gear selector.

Not a big deal, the car shifts fine so far. Just wanted if its something I should have the dealership look into

Congratz, nice coupe...
Seems like a lot of TC owners experience the same thing. Some say it has quieted down as miles went up.
