Cutting springs
go ahead and do it... then come on here and bitch about them...
cutting the spring increases the spring rate... it also wont be cut the same at every corner so now you've got 4 springs that are different lengths and spring rates...

no it will. Because cutting the dead coil just inturn makes a flex coil your new dead coil. Now if you cut the spring for the bottom coil, you will probably reduce the ability of the cars turn in response or even worse, forget that you cut the springs and take a hard turn to find them unseat themselves and the car go all nuts on you. I still dont like the idea but you can do it and come back in here after 40k miles and tell us, I told ya so!!!.
Well, let me tell you personally why NOT to cut the springs. About a month ago, I was driving in the far left lane on a three lane highway when another driver was tailgating me, I decided to do the right thing and move out of their way. While, looking in the rear view mirror I see a Honda speeding up the same lane I was in and he decided to switch over three lanes then cut back in. Well, it didn't turn out to well he lost control of his vehicle and was sliding sideways directly in front of me, I slammed on my brakes to avoid a collision and the person behind me rear ended my car. Turns out he had cut his springs on his car to look cool but looking cool and performing cool are two different things. You will lose handling and your not only endangering yourself but others on the road.........do what you want but you shouldn't cut corners.
