I have a 451 and 496 codes on my ss tc. i was told by many to retune my car and richenen it up but my check engine light is still there. should i change my evap purge selonoid? if so can i get that part at a local store or do i gota go thru gm, thanks guys appreciate it

 

Yeah replace the EVAP purge solenoid and if that doesnt fix it then replace the vent valve in the rear of the car and that should fix it, has nothing to do with the tune.

 

Just get the part and install it yourself, very easy to do, its on the top of the intake manifold, just unplug the sensor, remove the nut and swap the sensor. You can unplug your battery during the install to clear the code or if you have a scanner and can remove it then its alright...

 

just did this....googled the part number and had it shipped to my door for 26 bucks. it was from rms motorsports i think. anyway my car would start rough and need me to give it gas after a fillup. threw the same code and now its fixed

 

Mine threw the same P0496 code for the evap purge solenoid. I just ordered a couple new ones off a member here and they should arrive by the end of the week. Just in time for me to get inspected

It seems that these fail quite often.

 

Had 455 and 496. Mine was Evap Purge selenoid

 

I just replaced mine waiting to run of gas to see if it fixed it

 

I just bought it today. thanks guys for the advice. when i install it, should i clear the code? i gota get inspected asap
