The ZL1's are dynoing about 500-510 WHP stock. I think it has the upper hand.

Before my Retune on the bnr I easily put 2-3 cars on a full bolt on ss/tc from 60-110. Said car was hptuned by area47. As am I.

A ZL-1 as in Camaro? They're only 580 horse and weigh 2 tons! Who said they ran 11's? I've only seen them hit low to mid 12's... I know they'll come hard off the line, but it's moving a bloody battleship. I think you can take him from a roll, in his stock form that is.

They have the ability to run 11's. They trap 117 average / 120 high side and you think he can take him from a roll?

Man people on CSS.net smoke some good **** .

Oh and yes they DID run a stock ZL1 @ 11's.

Camaro Curb weight 3,750 lb
SS Cobalt Curb weight 2,815 lb

Camaro Hp 580
Est. Cobalt Hp. 360

Power to weight:
ZL1 .15
SS .13

Pounds per hp:
ZL1 6.47
SS 7.82

I'm going to say again, with equal driver ability, the Cobalt is NOT faster than a ZL1. From a roll pretty much equals out driver ability. So until it actually happens we can bench race all we want....

Because that can only be used to compare 2 specific cars. I wanted to take averages of the numbers Cobalts, but the numbers we have on the ZL1 are the rated numbers.

Seriously, we are not faster with a tune, than every modern muscle car who is stock.... These threads keep coming up and they are getting absurd. You can not compare 580hp to 360hp with a 900lb difference.

Next thread is going to be, "My buddy just took delivery on his 2013 Cobra and I think I can take it with my Cobalt with a tune, intake and fart can..."

Well let's see here.. those guys were GM engineers testing it and I'd bet they have it prepped just to show such times. So it did an 11.96 and an 11.93, what they forgot to mention was that they were on drag radials more than likely. Don't know for sure, but I'd bet that's what they used. Now who's going to run drag radials on the street? Nofknbody! But it'll still pull any Balt SS from the line, no doubt about that, but from a roll, it'll depend on the car. The Op looks like he's got basic bolt-ons and a tune, which may actually be close from a roll. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to have the 2 cars have almost the same time from let's say a 40 roll to 130. I'm sure the Camaro will pull off the line, and have the top end to take the lead, but our cars thrive on the highway. Not going to get into a silly argument over it, but let's wait and see what happens. If the SS loses, I'm sure it won't be by a whole lot, which in itself, is an accomplishment if you ask me.

I've seen bolt on lnf's trap that high... I don't see why people don't thin a slowbalt could keep up with a stock zl1.

Per the video of the 11 second "stock" ZL1, they show them bolting up different rims and tires. lol. Then they claim stock tires. They were obviously putting on drag radials.

All I can say is, if I get a chance to setup a run with a ZL1 up here at 6000ft above sea level, I will gladly video it for you guys to see, because my car f*ckin runs at altitude. At my local track I've seen a new ZR1 vette run a 13.2 @ 112, couple new CTS-Vs only running mid 13s @ 107-109, 2010 GT500 w/intake and exhaust run a 13.2 @ 109.

I trapped at 110mph on a day with the DA at 8600ft.

Its about power to weight and highway passing speeds people.

Power to Weight Ratio Calculator

My friends evo ran 12.48 @ 108MPH.. my cobalt 14.1 @ 108MPH...

I rolled on him on the highway.

I KNOW ITS A CONFUSING CONCEPT. Not sure why you idiots are so hung up on the the 1/4 times and not trap speeds, if the 1/4 mile time is all that matters on a FWD car forum, and thats the case - our cars are seriously ******* slow being FWD. And would be "slower" according to you guys than low horsepower AWD cars.

If the weight is about 4100lbs, and has about 580HP Power:Weight Ratio is 1 : 7.1

assuming we are talking crank HP, not wheel and the cobalts 3000lbs, you will need 420hp to hang with him. Or at least in that 400HP ballpark...

My best is 13.466 @ 108MPH with GMS1 and a downpipe. Pretty decent

My car is getting sold this summer for something not so embarrassing to drive =)

That was the ACTUAL tested curb weight And one of the others was damn near 4300 too.. 4280 if I recall.. the car still has power and the power to weight ratio is still slightly better, but it still goes.. from a roll, it'll be alot closer than alot of you guys think. He probably will get pulled on, but he's not going to be totally Destroyed. If he had more mods, like Dart or a few others, hell I'd even give it a go, might surprise alot of you folks on here. I already beat a C6 from a roll; didn't pull on me until 145 mph when he finally caught up and that car has 380whp if I recall correctly and weighs around 3000 lbs.
