For the record. You make more power on 93 Oct than with 91 Oct even with a 91 tune. Checked that out today. I will let term explain the rest.

I don't think so, think he was stating that the tune was designed for 91 octane and made more power with 93 octane

Uhm, yes this is true... Now it isn't a huge difference but the difference in 1-2* of timing. The higher the octane the more timing and airflow you can plow into the motor the more power you make!

Huge difference today. Tomorrow I will have results with 93 OCT. Tuned today on crappy 91 OCT gas I got different numbers. But also We did a baseline with superchips, and made a 20WHP 15WTQ improvement. Over the SC numbers. On some bad 7-11 gas 91 OCT.

I put some 93 in on the way home, and my car felt like it had a completely different tune. (Runs great now.) It got wet outside so I had to be very careful.

New mods for today though. I got a muffler put on. I got tired of waking up the neighborhood every morning with my straight through exhaust. It was way too loud. So now I got a Raven (midas performance muffler slapped on today.) I didn't really care, because I am very happy with the sound.

exactly .. esp since the ss/tcs have a tendency to have a little knock stock

you made a 20whp improvement on the superchips "stock" tune by just switching to 93 octane?

Superchips Tune today: 255 whp 285 wtrq MAF 24.2 lbs/ min max flow
My tune : 274 whp 305 wrtq. MAF 30.2 lbs/ min max flow. That gas and Muffler were definately holding his car back a ton I dont think that muffler flows well because his superchips tune made about 25 whp and 20 wtrq less than the last time and this is on the same dyno and same correction. Very similar tune in my car pulled 35lbs/min through the stock airbox last time I logged it. The car was not knocking at all once it relearned after a few pulls and I was able to make good gains over the SC tune. It has been documented that 93 octane even with the stock timing will add 14 whp or so over 91 octane but his car was leaving at least 25 whp 30 wrtq on the table today. Time for a cut out or non baffled muffler.

Nope My tune made a 20 whp 20 wtrq gain over the SC tune on 91 octane. He would have much better results with his stock muffler and 93 in the tank.

So, that makes me have a question for you Drew, The dyno runs you pulled and got 281whp and 288whp, was that with 91 or 93 octane in your tank?

It was 93 octane topped off with some 91 octane. I think it was very close to 93 average octane I think the midas raven muffler is too blame somewhat as well because it is baffled internally it is not a strait through muffler. The car just was not moving much air it was holding 21.5-22 psi all the way to 6400 or so but the flow was not increasing much as the revs rose like I normally see. When you dyno it next time drew you might want to put you stock strait through muffler back on if you still have it. Performace is greater than sound IMHO.

Performance is greater than sound, but I like my car quiet. I am doing an Electronic cutout anyways. so i can have my cake and eat it too. I came to the conclusion today that I must have had some crap gas in there this time. I always use sunoco and the last times I ran i just put 4 Gallons of 93 in and 4 of 89. This past time was on 91 Octane from a 7-11. I think not many people get it because 93 is an option there.

On the bright side though, My car can go fast with Crappy gas in it. Tomorrow we will see how it does with some good gas. in about 2 months I will put a cutout in. I am find how it is right now. Its fast enough to lose traction with just a tiny bit of throttle tip in in 2nd.

Dave, I would still like to see his logs... Kinda curious on the flow issue you called me about a little earlier.

I don't think the muffler alone could cause that lack of flow... I really don't. But it could, I suppose

Its a raven muffler, its pretty much a straight through design. I also don't see how it would hold it up that much. You two share and discuss, I will find someone who can tweak me in AZ if you come up with a solution. (Also I might drop by while in NC if you have the time)

The desired airloads and MALT. are cranked as high as they can go and it just wont flow like it should. Your car on the SC tune flowed about the same amount of air as most on their stock tunes. That is what perplexes me as i know that that exact tune flows a ton more air in my car and i have the stock airbox and airfilter. Drop the Cb next time and see if there is a big difference is all I can suggest.

Why such the lower numbers with the SCT tune?
Same dyno same set-up or no?
I just plunked down some loot for the Cortex.

I've seen as high as 27#/min MAF just casually watching the output on the cortex , It prolly pulls more but i just don't watch it that much. On another note my car chirped 3rd on a nls yesterday , and started to spin the tires in 2nd at around 5500rpm @21-22 psi 70 degree air . It never came close to doing that stock so the SC tune can't be too terrible.

I updated the tuner yesterday ....there was a gas car update for the database , just not sure what it was for . They really need to let us know what is in these updates cause i don't want to flash the car for no reason.
