Swapping ECU's Can the dealer tell??
its all BS man, they can blame it on your beating on the car too much. its all a ****** scam. Hate the dealer.
"yea my car is knocking under WOT after the stage kit." "well sir, you shouldnt be going WOT in your performance vehicle, we can not guarantee our parts will last under WOT. We test our parts in the parking lot and experieced no knock under 3k rpms, which we recommend you shift at. Maybe you need to find better gas?"
**** them

that made me laugh
I believe that having a second ECM still does have it's place.
I also know that having a second ECM will cost more...
I think that at the end of the day how much $$ you're willing to sink into this is the key;
Tuning = $$
second ECM = $$
chancing voiding warranty = $$
How much are you willing to gamble with your money?
I know that until my warranty is gone, I am not going to risk it - so I'm going to stop at GMS1 ~ but that doesn't mean I'm not interested in this thread

2nd ecu for 200 bones is soooooo worth it ....
Just saw this... you mean to test out the ability to see the tune? That was tried right as the feature came out with a Tech and he didn't see it. That's how Vince can market a tune feature like that. It had to have been proven that it actually worked first before he could market it as such.
There are other parameters that can be seen on the ECU, such as miles since CEL, miles since CEL cleared, etc. All of those go away with an ECU reset though (I've confirmed), so that doesn't matter much. There's no reason that a Tech would be suspicious of whatever that might say (assuming he looked to begin with, which is not GM Standard Operating Procedure to begin with mind you, nor would most know how to do it, that the parameter happens to be there on our car, or even care), the fact that something was wrong with your car that you're trying to fix means that you most likely would have disconnected the battery before working on it... which just so happens to reset the ECU anyway.
It all comes down to the dealer really. If they've made up their mind to screw you, they're going to find a reason or way to do it regardless of if you've got a legit warranty issue or not. Take the Stage Kit for instance... "We think that you're the kind of person that would go WOT in your car a lot or maybe rag on it, because why else would you have installed it?". Sure it is covered by a warranty, but that's only as good as the dealer you're working with to begin with anyway. Heck, my dealer helped me install aftermarket parts, while some have a heart attack at the thought of a car coming in for a repair and have a minor one on them.

someones gunna have to deal with clutch relearn and all that bs that comes with it. lolz. im still deciding on weather to buy this or not tho. anybody have any experience with swapping an ecu?
if its flashed with tech-II, no need for a clutch relearn... I didn't have to do that...
I got mine from ECUOutlet(when he had them in stock)... he simply got my VIN, flashed the ECM with my stock file and I was able to do the security relearn on my car with it and it started right up... Vince was able to tune on it without a problem
my stock ECM was put up, I think the guy that was selling them on here has the means of flashing them, someone probably recalls his name... he doesn't have any more in stock but I bet for a fee he'd flash it for someone... Vince at Trifecta might be able to as well

so you blow your engine, swap the old ecu in and now all the readiness monitors are reset cause there was no power on the original ecu while it was sitting in your glove box. you dont think the dealer is gonna question why your readiness monitors are set if you have been driving around? they can tell if you swap ecus or use any other tunes, than switch back to stock, trust me!
unhooking the battery resets readiness monitors.
Same difference, so because you unhooked a battery and your monitors aren't ready when you take it in throws the red flag?
c'mon.

This **** is so confusing. Don't know what to believe. Anyhow, here is my thought. I had my car tuned, I should be responsible if that tune caused an issue and not expect the dealership to cover it. Just my thoughts. Gotta pay to play I guess.
Some people want to have their cake and eat it too. I'm on the fence, I'm thinking I might just get the GMS1 for now and then maybe do some moding after the warranty expires. If I want something that gets up and goes I would get a V8 RWD that has no warranty so I can go craaazy with it (no road courses around here so would be a drag car). Yes I know if anything breaks I will have to fix it and I would be fine with it.
