2010 Cobalt SS/TC Stage 1 test drive!
Ha ha I know...there's been plenty of people that have tuned on the "New OS" on the other platforms this motor is in (Sky RL, Solstice GXP, HHR SS) and the only change is the reading for the 3 bar MAP Sensor instead of the 2 bar MAP currently in it...IT'S STILL AN AIR LOAD BASED SYSTEM... SAME AS THE CURRENT ONE...THUS..You're ECU will target certain parameters and do it's best to meet its settings...so..."Learn Down" as it's known...is still a go.

And if you really think they changed something between how the ECU in the Cobalt tune vs the HHR, Solstice, or Sky works...then you are high as a kite.

Here's a General Computer Engineer/Programmer who has dove deep into this ECU...his name is Vince...tuner of Trifecta...read this and then go tell him he's an idiot...

I'm not trying to turn it into anything...I'm simply trying to enlighten people that question the "learn down." And I hate how this site will let you post links about damn near everything except another forum!!!

Its kind of like the LS1 camaro vs LS1 corvette. The camaro was given restrictive parts to make it produce less power than the c-vette. Otherwise, they were and performed identically, and that would have left a lot of pissed c-vette owners.
the SS/TC is toned down with its stage 1. The reason for this is GM doesnt want it directly competing with the gxp/rl.

The PSI really depends on weather and temperature because boost pressure is not used to as a calibration control. 22psi is the top I have seen. However it is on a cooler morning. The peak power at 4700 +50 HP at 4700 RPM will be up on GMTunersource.com with a graph by EOD so you can report that.
I asked before i could post this but here is some more info! Quote from Bill!
EOD??? Is that Explosive Ordinance Disposal???
Maybe if you described how they get rid of it everybody will understand/believe it. There are still a lot of nay-sayers out tthere. Is it the new Operating System that does the trick or was I misinformed?

Can't help you with engine goodies but I've been talking to Enkei Race Wheels and they will be releasing a new wheel the end of September for sale in October. No pictures yet but it will be LIGHTER than the 16# RPF1 in the race wheel line and priced about the same. Only one problem. They haven't decided if they're going to include a 5X110 ( and maybe a 17" thet WILL go over the Bremboss) in the mix. They are CONSIDERING it. I WANT LIGHT WHEELS. Call Enkei, ask for King and tell him you want a light wheel for your Cobalt. It would definately help the cause. The number is 800-875-3100. It won't take much of your time and may get us a MUCH needed lightweight race wheel for our cars.

Most people have a problem with 20hp gain because they only think of it as the top end gain not the mid or bottom end. Mid is where its at, now you can shift sooner than before to be in your power band!
