^^ bingo. didn't read prior posts to your question. when the car was hooked up to the scanner you can see it retard timing, hell, I can see it on the RPD. It's not rocket science people!

The waste gate is not open... you can still build boost when it is in cat warm up mode, if the waste gate were open, you would not be able to as the exhaust gasses would be bypassing the turbine.

The waste gate is actuated by boost pressure on a diaphragm on a rod that opens the flap for the internal waste gate, you wouldn't be opening the waste gate during the cat warm up stage because there is not any boost pressure to open it up, messing with the timing, now that is another story.

 

If you touch the gas during cat warmup it aborts the process. How are you building boost without touching the gas pedal?

Exactly, because you aren't building boost, your waste gate actuator is not open, it may be pulling timing for the later burn to heat the cat, but it is just going through the turbo just like normal.

 

What the OP is asking for is also called a screamer pipe.

It sounds nothing like a normal setup with an EWG and is A LOT LOUDER.

Performance is minor, helps lag a bit.

exactly. you cant be building boost without a load on the motor. i dont care if its retarding timing or not. no load- no boost. especially at idel.

im well aware at what its called. i know it louder, but it wont be loud at idel. it just wont. without boost, that wastegate wont open and it will sound just normal when driving around when not in boost.

 

if u watch ur boost gauge in cat warmup u are very close to building boost. iv even seen it building 1 psi, so not ur wastegate is not open all the way.

 

i want something like that.

alll good. yea, itll be loud as hell when your into boost, and the wastegate opens, other then that it wont be "loud" at all. ( depending on exhaust mods of course)

 

So if that is something you would be interested why don't we get a list going of people who would support this kind of mod, who knows maybe with enough people interested we might get a vendor to produce a few for us..
