I'm thinking I should start a build thread. Guess this is it.

Well I did something wrong on the wastegate. Thing boosts to 30 plus psi at half throttle lol. Gotta take it off and troubleshoot. Even goes over spring pressure, but it is opening so Idk. Gonna take the opportunity to put lighter spring in there , for failsafe purposes

Lol Ya I didn't expect that, it happened so fast , so spool isnt bad at all on this thing. I was a lot more careful after when I tried just wg pressure. These mv-s wgs have to many ports and to many different ways of setting up lol for running electronic boost control like stock one of the ports on top has to be blocked, for running wg pressure, it has to be open, gonna open it and see if it works , if not I'll have to use a solenoid to close it for my failsafe to work. So instead of plugging the hole the solenoid will close off the path to the port
Are you running an external or internal dump wastegate? If external you'll know when it opens.

it didn't really. it didn't do much, I was off it right away, didn't have time to spin the wheels or nothing. lol but as for boosting that high, ya a little. lol

I found out something nice, if u wanna paint something like this with spray paint and it doesn't work to mask all areas, apply a light layer of petroleum jelly to places u can't mask and paint, let it dry, paint comes off like plasti dip but easier in those areas
Petroleum jelly can cause fish eyes.

I don't actually put it on painted areas. it works well for indented areas and u don't want any paint on the non indented parts, and yes u have to be carful to not get any in the area that's being painted

so I went to test my wastegate, still doesn't open in time for some reason. and after a little pull I got flashing engine light and the dreaded subi sound. I limped home to do compression test, almost cried....lol and that checked out. so I replaced the zzp coil packs with stock ones, and problem solved, I blew cylinder 3 coil pack. according to the misfire I had in cylinder 3. cobalt would sound awesome if we could get that subi sound legit. it did sound good.

also my wastegate seems to be leaking, I used air compressor to test it while on the car, it has 15 lb spring, only opens at 28psi. and I can hear air leaking into the exhaust.
200 miles on break in oil, change filter and oil to regular non synthetic until 1,000 miles, change everything again to synthetic then good to go.
btw, just wait until you start tuning for boost and the solenoid holds the wastegate shut to up boost. This S257 is actually pretty violent when boost hits. It feels tame now since we're allowing the pressure to just go right to the ewg and move the valve, when it's bled off by the solenoid, this thing is violent, like way more than expected and scary.
check your diaphragm for rips and tears, tial should warranty that if it's bad.

u have the tial wg? how did u hook it up with the ports on the wg? the top seal isn't leaking just the stem, which according to everything I read and a video from tial is normal. its all accounted for. but why does mine not open till 28 psi fully? idk. I will have too do some emailing.

So I did some testing, in order to open wg full for 16 psi I need to use an 8 psi spring, Which is why I boosted to past 30 on 16 psi spring. Why do they not get their charts right. Their bov springs are the same way. So basically whatever boost u want, divide by half and use that spring . dumb
