2.0L LNF Performance Tech 260hp and 260 lb-ft of torque Turbocharged tuner version.

I'm thinking I should start a build thread. Guess this is it.

Ugh, like the devil on my shoulder saying "DO IT". I have a spare G85 laying around too. And a set of 4.45's. I've been seriously considering sending it to Jason to go thru, probably in 2025 when he frees up. Sure would be nice to have that extra gear. Sell the 4.45'as and be golden. I'd have to look at the ratios and see how they would work out in the 1320. I know 1st gear is a no brainer.

Quaife didnt just throw an extra gear in there and call it good. They redesigned the whole gear set in a way to prevent premature wear, promote better oil distribution and oil retention in places that desperately needed it. 2nd gear has more support on the output because it floats on a sleeved needle bearing now rather than a bushing that wears out. And then the end cap has a gigantic cylindrical roller bearing on the output side as well as another roller bearing on the input side to keep the shafts together up top. Then the cap is dowel fastened to the case which takes a ridiculous amount of precision to reproduce within tolerance for each kit to make the cap an effective structural peice of the case in respect to shaft location retention. Hats off to Quaife for this brialliant redesign. As far as the future of aftermarket gear kits, well,

It has awesome ratios for the strip. There are no more available. 4.45 1st gear is stupid short, like a granny gear. Jason is taking orders for 2021 work now. I'm probably not gonna mod mine anymore till Jason gets freed up for a build (2022) as I don't want to risk killing the 4.45 in the car now since it's worth decent money in tact.

Jason is doing things to the trans that no one else is currently doing. When you are the only one, and guys want to keep their trans together as long as possible, he is your only option on f35's. I'm surprised there are that many who will spend $3000 plus on a trans in this community. Besides guys like you who have went to the F-40's.

I actually was never able to secure a kit for myself. Most of my monies have been getting dumped back into future development. Im content being able to offer my version of the final revision. The kits went out in glory which is pretty cool to see 12 years later.

Really depend what you rev to and whether or not you go with 382 or 405. High powered cars would use a 382 to achieve around 150 mph at the top of 4th depending on rev limit and tire size.

We are still evolving. Wait till you see the 10k$ dogbox builds. (Wishful thinking) really though, having all these drivetrain options available has brought new life and hope back to the platform. Not just on the drivetrain side either. All the veteran vendors are doing their part too, offering new useful products constantly. Babysteps

Still sooo jelly of that gearbox! My 4.45 I have now is about perfect going thru the traps for a street/strip car. 24.5 slicks, 7400 rpm would be about 136mph. It doesnt get much better then that for 500hp car. But the granny 1st and any the screaming engine at highway speeds leaves much to be desired.

Cant wait to see how car runs when you get it together. What ratio did you use for for that trans?

I think Jason was barely getting everything going when I got my f40 if I would of know about his work I might of gone with him instead

exedy hyper single. once I got an explanation from exedy on how they rate this thing, I figured it will hold just fine. 3 days and hours of research and review reading on like every clutch made for the cobalt lol. I feel good about this one.

for those interested. they are rated at 340wtq. the way they get this is as follows, from what they told me. the clutch itself is rated at 612 flywheel hp. subtract 25% safety factor (for idiot drivers who don't know how to use a clutch I assume) subtract 20% drivetrain loss. so if ur not an idiot driver and with our cars having maybe 12 to 15 percent drivetrain loss or less, it should hold fine.

You got one of the few good 07+ saab F40s that were low mileage. You did good. There is some things that can be done to strengthen it such as swapping to a regal housing. Josh at ottp sells a more affordable swap kit with all new mounts and you wont need zzp proprietary half shaft because the regal housing has speed sensor built into housing but needs slight modification to allow out stock speed sensor to be utilized. Some options for you to consider.

Well thats interesting! How does the Regal trans compare ratio wise to the preferred 2007+Saab trans ZZP recommends? Does that one come with LSD?

Regal f40 is pretty closebto the Saab equivalent actually. Regal 1-3 are a hair shorter and 4-6 are a hair longer. 3rd is within a few mph, 4th is about 10mph longer avg.

I did did some quick math, it looks like the Regal F40 has a lower ring and pinion (3.762) vs the Saabs (3.55). When you take into account the Regal using a lower 1st gear vs the Saab (3.917 and 3.769) it would place the 1st gear somewhere near what an F35 with a 4.45 is. How readily available are the 3.55 ring and pinions? and how practical would such a swap be, if you already are adding a LSD? Sorry to hijack the thread. Very interesting the prospect of having a readily available lower mile and lower price option.

Haha for sure I think I got lucky with the transmission I got i really need to install it haha I'm so close of it sitting for like 2 years
Not sure if I have the proper tools for myself to try and install an lsd. I have also never installed an lsd so Idk how far I would get.

355 is available but only if salvaged from another trans. Even if they were available new, it would be quite pricey considering final drive gears consist of two output shafts and ring gear because of the Dual output design of the F40. With a longer first gear comes a lower torque rating. Regal 1st is still rated at 400nm like the rest of the trans. If someone really wanted to have an awesome ratio setup it would be a combination of the Regal trans and Saab transbut then budget becomes more of an issue and then you are still left with an open differential stock transmission. There is another rare final drive I have my hands on which is the 395. I'd like to see an sc car utilize that with the saab gearing
