My dealer got my rear brake pads and cam sensor today so I will be bringing it in thurs. morning to get it fixed. Hopefully the new sensor has an updated seal or something I dont want my motor leaking anymore. Anyone waiting for brakes tell your dealer that the rear brake pads from a SAAB 9-3 are the same part number so they can use them.

Everbody with this issue bring your cars in so GM sees that this a very common problem and they will hope fully come out with an updated part to fix the leak.

any updates or FIXES.

I just cleaned the connector yesterday and the car seems to be running smoother so I'm thinking this is a pretty serious issue and it needs to be resolved either by GM or
us.

Wonder if this leaking sensor is a result of excess crankcase pressure - and the sensor happens to be the path of least resistance???

Just out of curiosity - how many of you with this problem have a tune with more boost?? Not that it really matters since GM is coming out with the stage kit and all. Just a thought that crossed my mind.

Not all of us are tuned. My car has had the tune in it for less than 1000mi. I was leaking long before that. Mine is a very slow leak. I dont think is is excess crankcase pressure, but probably an improperly sized seal.

mine is very small also, almost an annoyance more than anything cause there is no actual oil leaking on anything or on the ground

but it may get worse.............

The big issue is that the oil gets into the plug for the cam sensor itself, and because oil is a non polar compound that does not conduct electricity the signal from the cam sensor to the ECM is interrupted causing either hesitation or even causing the car not to run at all. I noticed a while back that my car would occasionally idle strangely after warmup it would cycle up and down a little, then it would work fine. Well ever since I cleaned out the plug and the pins on the connector and the cars seems to run better now. So please keep yours clean so you dont get stranded somewhere.

Has anyone who has actually checked their car for this oil leak found that it was not leaking or are all the TCs leaking there? Anyone not leaking there?

Man this really sucks a car should not leak oil at all when it is that new. Did GM not test this setup for oil leaks or what?

Last week when I took mine in the dealer added oil dye to insure the origin of the problem....When I went back yesterday the dealer confirmed it was the sensor and has ordered a new one...I should get here this week and they will probably replace it this Friday. The dealer acknowledged that they have seen this before...considering where I am located and the amount of business generated at this dealership it is a bit alarming to think that this issue has been seen before... I actually think this problem will be found across the board and I highly recommend anyone that has an LNF to check for a problem....

Btw... I am stock...for now....08 with 3700 miles

took mine in today. They are replacing the valve cover gasket next week. I don't think it will solve the issue but hey I can always bring it back in. Eventually they will get annoyed by it and bug the general to get a fix.

I really hope they get this issue fixed. I hate oil leaks. My LS2 GTO went through 4 rear crankshasft seals in 20K miles GM apparently does not put very good seals in their cars.

This absolutely frickin mind boggling................How can there be almost 150 posts on this simple subject, some of them apparently from GM technician and no one has yet just put a thicker o-ring on the sensor or spread some sealant on the joint and been done with it????????????????

Seriosuly. Stop bitching, stop waiting fro someone else to do something. If you know what the ******* problem is just fix it for ***** sake!!!!!!!!!!

Its oil leaking around an o-ring.....its not rocket surgery.

Yourself or the dealer.....either way someone should have clearly just done this by now. Its supposed to be a techs job to fix cars, not just replace parts.

I dont want to touch it myself for fear that I will accidently damage something trying to get at the sensor. It is buried under the high pressure fuel pump something I really dont want to accidently damage. I will wait for GM to fix the problem if replacing it the first time does not work.
