I found that sweet spot... about 24psi or so with the GMS1 tune file with HPT added in, to richen it up a tad.

seems to have worked out good... no knock, fuel is spot on.

Ital is all over it. Note to file: the culprit is runaway detonation. end of story.

24-25 psi on mine 300% actual airload or higher sometimes. Held 23 psi until 6300 RPMs yesterday in 3rd.

Sorry for threadjack, but this threw me off a bit. When you say added boost, you mean just above what the car calls for in stock form, or any boost period? I know the stock turbo is capable of making boost below 1500 rpm, albeit not too much unless you're brake-boosting or starting a 5th gear pull at 35 mph.

I think he meant more than what the car makes comparatively stock. It makes sense that you don't want to raise the cylinder pressures too much down low, by either timing or airflow.

Even if the car is capable, doing it is a bad idea. If you have to be full-throttle below 2000 rpms, you should downshift. If you are in 1st gear, the car won't have time to load the engine before the revs increase enough to make it manageable.

It's like spraying nitrous at low RPMs. The stress on the pistons is much higher at the lower rpms if the timing is coming in really early.

Don't get me wrong, I don't go around challenging people to top-gear races, but I wanted to make sure the car won't blow up if I give it half throttle to accelerate from 45 to 55 on the road.

Thanks - I figured as much, but wanted to make sure. I know high boost / low rpm is a recipe for disaster.

I meant added boost over production boost numbers. Even the stage kit does not add boost below 2000 rpm. The tunes from Trifecta and what people are doing with HP Tuners, have stated that they increased boost below 2000 rpm. You are asking for fatal engine damage if boost above stock boost is added below 2000rpm.

It's just a safer bet for those of us who have only one car and don't have the knowledge or resources for a complete failure like this.
