LDK build thread, version 2.0

Those valves are the result of 147,000 miles and not cleaned once, stock pcv system. Gotta love DI.
The aem e85 fuel pump is a pain in the rear, lots of modification of the fuel pump canister is required as the pump is slightly longer than the stock one and the pump plug needs the pins reversed, but got it done. LDK is all dressed and ready to be bolted to the trans.
It's all the little stuff like cleaning the engine bay re looming wiring that's taking it much longer than anticipated, I'm getting burned out but trying to push forward. Still have to fab up the down pipe and turbo intake once it's all in too.

Almost there, exhaust all fabricated and done, intake fabricated and done, now trying to figure out which wires go where lol.
the ky stage 4+ I bought from James Rakes had the same pedal feel as the stage 3 did so that's nice. Clutch all bled yesterday and new brakes on.
Almost there........
4 days so far..... 12 hours a day....... I'm mentally and physically beat

Well ladies and gents..... it lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im so happy after working on it all day today to get it done, i was very very nervous priming the engine and the moment of truth, no leaks, no problems, runs ok but I'll have to work on the tune tomorrow with the opels to go do the breakin zzp procedure.
the aem e85 pump is working great too, it does indeed need the leads reversed from factory but the factory plug plugs right in and the fuel canister where it sits needs modded. I now have a 320lph e85 pump and 6an line feeding my high pressure pump and 5th injector.
Tom was right about those radiator fan plugs , pain in the rear to plug in

that braided stuff I used also weighs a ton lighter than the stock lines or stainless lines. Yeah I'm glad I moved to Texas, no more snow or salt. The salt ate my subframe and lca on my Subaru wrx that the lca broke in half and the subframe was rotted through. Subaru replaced both for free even with 180,000 miles on her.

Oh btw my firewall needed some love for the s257 to fit nicely, was getting some vibrations from the compressor hoisin in the firewall, might want to check yours tom. It drive me nuts thinking something broke
that s257 is quite different coming ffrom a zfr, I actually love the slow spool and the LDK sounds wicked, way different than the old lnf as far as tone in the exhaust.

True, and granted, I'm probably going a bit overboard with AND rerouting the oil and coolant lines, AND heat wrapping them AND heat wrapping the exhaust pipes and turbo and down pipe but once you write off an engine due to a cooked 30 dollar oil feed line you get a little nervous
ANyway, this is what I was talking about (not my picture)

I agree that looks much better. Another issue I've found since breaking it in and driving it now is that the cam tables absolutely had to be tuned. I at first used the stock tables for initial driving but it had this terrible engine shutter at around 12% throttle, 2500rpms and low loads, the idle was a little "off" feeling and just generally sucked at low load driving.
i pulled the plugs and they looked great, so I scratched my head. I remember I hated the stock cam tables bc of some weird issues before the swap too.
After hearing back from Ryan at ZZP that it's ok to tune the cam tables with the stage 2 cams, I loaded my cam tables I use on the tune and idle is smooth as silk, all shuttering is gone and it's a pleasure to drive now on any load, boost also comes in faster for sure now too.
How is yours running Tom?

I'd probably guess more than likely the cams mostly, along with the turbo changed the sound. The s257 has a very nice subtle spool up sound as well, love it.
And Tom, thats the other problem i had too, a small rev felt terrible like it was missing but isn't actually, cam tables my man. And if you have cat warmup enabled, then yeah it will start and idle like crap. Mine is disabled and tuned out.
I'll drag out the gopro setup and make some videos soon.
