So when is someone with direct injection going to crank up their compression?

I understand on a naturally aspirated engine that you could up the compression to make more hp, but on a turbocharged motor would you not just up the boost pressure?

Pretty much. As long as you aren't running your turbo past it's efficiency range.

As far as running E85 and a stock turbo is concerned, raising the compression would be a great mod for the LNF. I'd go 10:1.

Boost pressure is a great way to increased "calculated dynamic compression," but the higher the boost the harder the turbo has to work. (On a low compression motor.) On a higher compression motor, a low boost engine will make the same or better HP than a High boost low compression motor. (using the same turbo.)

Drewbroo... What psi is your tune set at?? I've contacted Vince and wasn't able to get a hold of him. I left him a message though.. I poured gas 2 days ago so I have 3/4 of a tank left so I'm in no rush to receive my E85 tune.

Yup. Any time you can run the turbo in a more efficient range by lowering the boost and raising compression, there are gains to be had. In the case of a larger turbo where there is a lot more boost/airflow to be had without maxing the turbo, then less compression and more boost will result in more hp.

3-21 Update.... My 2400 psi file popped a P0087 Low Fuel Rail Pressure CEL in a 3rd gear pull tonight. Inj % went through the roof as did STFT's trying to get enough fuel in there. I think too much pressure throws the HPFP off it's curve but I have no proof other than my feeble results. Chicken or the egg kinda thing, which came first?

Loaded the 2200 psi layer file for the way home but it'll be raining by then.

Interested to see other peoples results....

No codes but injector % duty is pushing the limit on my LNF. I'll back the boost down to 22 psi if need be. Still testing.... need BYT's 'balt in on this testing too.

You won't see a thing in the Trifecta datalogs. No one but Vince can view them, so there are no tricks a tips to learn

The cable is usefull in quite a few other applications other than tuning an LNF via trifecta, so maybe brebroo has something else planned? I guess you shall find out..

I'm right with you there. When learning how to do carbs... it only took one time of showing me. Computers are way too complex for me at this point... which is why people like Vince are around to figure this **** out for us and make it as easy as the click of a mouse.
