Less surface exposed than the stock IC. Horrible. We need to use all the airflow from the front bumper that we can

Not really, it's actually exactly the same. Just much taller and thicker. You can't notice it from the angle I took the shot from.

It's the full size ZZP intercooler. Core dimensions are 28"x 8.125"x 4". That does not include end tanks.

I live in illinois. Its hot and cold all the time....you know how many stock inter coolers I've had blow apart with 2 different Cobaltss through winter conditions? Zero. Not saying it can't happen but you clearly missed my point. The stocker flows good it just was crappy plastic end tanks

winter im sure it worse up in canada but we have winter here. its just been very mild here the last 2 years. i ran a big turbo setup on the stocker just to see what would happen aswell. didnt break but im sure it wouldnt of lasted for all of eternity. it gets below zero here in the winter time.

I'm running a treastone TR8 with Treadstones Full Charge Piping.

I originally had a custom hotside Pipe made by RealStreet Tuning from Twin Cities, but what concerned me most was (like all hotsides, with the exception of zzp's i believe) the solid piping doesnt leave for any play as the engine "torques" back and forth under load in the engine bay. Solid hotside that wont budge much and plastic endtank on the stock IC = possible cracking of where the coupler connects under normal driving conditions. Add 20+ psi to the mix and I think its a ticking time bomb on when it will blow. Running my current treadstone pipes/IC not only is giving me better IAT2's with minimal lag on the k04 but it is a good sense of security for me with dealing with WI winter road debris and temps.
