pros and cons of cut out?????

can any one tell me the pros and cons of a cut out on the downpipe. i wanna do this rather than a exaust its alot cheaper and prolly sounds nicer. also i wanna keep it quiet for casual driving. does it spool the turbo faster, or any performance gains???? thanks guys

i want to know cause my friend said that he will go halfs if i get the cut out

why would your friend go halfs if its your car?

1. its loud as hell
2. it will add at least 20hp and thats with out the cutout sticker.

It is actually more like 6-7 whp normally. The stock CB is not restrictive at all compared to most cars.

The turbo will spool faster though, and its a good way to easily go from a track setup to a road setup.

Be mindful of ground clearance if you go with an electric actuator; depending on where the cut out is located it may be marginal.

soo what if i go with a bigger turbo and i have the down pipe and cut out. will i still have to get a exaust because i think with a aftermarket turbo you gotta have aftermarket exaust right??

i think they're prety cool my buddy has one on his srt-4. it just basically lets ur turbo spool faster because there is less back pressure. it wont be too loud. itll just sound like a big ass external wastegate a shop will do it for like 50 bucks. well at least in my area

beside you can keep it a sleeper

I posted a while ago about my personal experience with a cutout on my SRT4.With a 3'' downpipe and 2 1/2'' catback I dynoed 250hp I forgot the torque number. Now with the cutout open...251 and I lost 1 lb ft of torque. In my opinion based on back to back dyno pulls,I say it's a waste of money.

well from my knowledge its not suppose to increase ur horse power if u already have a turbo back exhuast wat it does is it allows for more horsepower throughtout your power band. so doesnt increase peak power but if u have stock exhaust and weld in a cutout you should see a signicant difference

Pro's:
Performance of a full turbo-back exhaust with half the price.
Sounds menacing

cons:
THey always leak. Even the nice brand name ones.
It can fail when it open
Sounds menacing

I run a cutout and stock exhaust on my setup.
