i would pay for a total kick ass kit
that included cai and new clutch and axles and a turbo upgrade and other powwer upgrades
as long as the power increase was at least 325 whp.....and 355ish wtq.
there would be no issues im sure with any sort of breakdown.......because....
it takes them forever it seems to hafta get it right.

I'll pay to get more than the rumored 30hp and 80ft/lb. I was hoping to see 325hp with the kit, but that might be why they are tuning it down.

Are they making a Stage 2 kit ya think? Maybe they're holding back for that kit?

Stg1 - 290hp 320ft/lb
Stg2 - 325hp 350ft/lb?

Just taking a stab.

No chance. With the clutch struggling to get to 325 there is no way they would make a kit that would REQUIRE a new clutch...especially with the financial stresses gm is having. I wouldnt expect any power beyond 300 from any sort of stage kit they produce. If you want big numbers...factory upgrades is not where you should be looking.

I don't understand all the paranoia about the clutch. The clutch is rated for 340 ft lbs of torque with the upgrade installed. Some of the other LNF cars are making 290 hp and 340 torque with the upgrade. There's no reason to believe the Cobalt won't get at least that. GM has enough to worry about without putting that much HP into a trans. and having to worry about warranty issues. The stock LNF is 260 hp and 260 turque and the clutch is rated for that. Now, with the upgrade, they have seen fit to increase the rating to 340. And with the built in safety factor I'll bet THIS clutch will handle a whole lot more than the rated capacity. Just learn to be kind to your clutch and it will be kind to you. GM isn't going to put a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty on something they aren't confident will last that long. Worst comes to worst Osama Obama will give you a new clutch under warranty.

I don't drive a SC. This is a TC forum. The clutch with the LNF has been upgraded along with the engine. Check it out.

the clutch is not the issue, its the intake tube thingy, we have a different intake box vs any LNF application, apparently this caused some hangups. hopefully its solved.

The GM tune will probably be set so that all the torque will not be available <2500rpm... Unlike all these aftermarket tunes which give you all the power on demand at any point the the rpm range. Just like it is stock, it will gradually raise torque availability as the rpms climb.... so you'll be able to use max power at 3000rpm-Redline... Thats why I think the trifecta tune is doing so well with these clutches, the management done for the torque seems to be about right...

My post was directed at the previous posts expressing their concerns about the power handling capability of the Cobalt SS stock clutch. It has been published elsewhere, I wish I could remember where, that the torque rating on the stock clutch was raised to 340 ft lbs when the upgrade kit was first released. And there are testimonials on this forum of the stock clutch handling 400 hp with almost as much torque with no apparent problems. How long it will last at that level is still to be determined. I know the clutch is not warranted. TECHNICALLY! It is considered a normal wear item which is not covered, just like brake pads. If you took the car in with the upgrade installed I think any GMPP Authorized dealer would do whatever they could to make it right. But again, I'm sure GM would not purposely use a driveline that they weren't confident was capable of doing the job. Now if you took the car in with the clutch in little pieces???? NOW it's time for an aftermarket clutch.
JMHO!!

I just hope we can get an affordable clutch solution for this car because at 1k a pop forget that. and to let everyone know changing a clutch is a whole days work in your garage. expect at least 8 hours and at least 2 of those you should have a buddy handy to help you with positioning the transmissions.

now that said when you get familiar with the car like I am with my 90 awd eclipse then it takes 3 to 4 hours
