ZZP and BNR build

A couple months ago i dropped cylinder 3 rings. Got ahold of ZZP and set up a build. Last week i dropped my car off for a build.

ZZP 2.1 block
ZZP Rods
Weisco Pistons
ZZP Springs and Retainers
ZZP Neutral Balance Shafts
Turbo Balancer
ZZP Stage 1 Cams with Fuel Lobe
ZZP Charge Pipes
ZZP Downpipe
Crazy Steves IC
K&N SRI
BNR 2871
E47

As for the numbers, i didnt quite put down what i expected, however i didnt know ZZP dynoed on a mustang. I usually use a dynojet that is local. Numbers on the e blend came out to be 424HP/393TQ. Matt also said the winter corrections brought my numbers down a lot. Im really curious as to what it will put down after i break it in a little and put some miles on it. I know a lot of people were curious as to what the BNR would do on e47, well here it is and more. Big thanks to ZZP to dealing with me, and taking care of me. BNR is a hold me over until the EFR is released and my bank account recovers.

I think that looks pretty solid for a bnr. Nice build!

once you get that bnr off there you'll get the numbers you expected. turbo is just too small to take advantage of that engine.

like i said im used to seeing everything on dyno jets. Once i get some miles on the motor and loosen it up a bit, i think itll put down more.

yeah definately. Like i said its just a hold me over. i could afford it, and couldnt see putting a stock turbo on just to make about the same amount of power i did before. With the nasty gearing of the stage 2 trans with a big turbo, and the fact i can rev out farther, this thing will run for days.

I can't wait until you throw that BNR in the trash. Good looking engine build. I look forward to the turbo swap. Another thing I miss about where I lived in Ohio... E85.

I too would like to know about the price of the engine build. When/if you PM me, can you also tell me why it broke and how did you or GM did it?

Here in Ohio they don't switch to summer blend E till end of may. We are on winter blend till beginning of April.

I don't think the numbers are bad at all. You have to remember that this is winter E85, which seems to have quite a bit less octane. Then mixed 50/50 with 93, it is nothing like running the E85 that I typically have in my car.

This is about the most boost we can run on this turbo without spiking it and fading. You can see where the boost starts to fade after about 6200rpm, but it completes the pull at nearly 25psi, compared to ~16 psi if he was running a K04 on the same motor.

FWIW, the uncorrected whp numbers are over 450. Michigan winter correction factors are brutal. The actual power this car is putting down right now is about 455hp, 422 ft lbs which will make for a very fast car.

exactly. that was actually summer e85, its just been sitting in the tank since it went boom in october, so its probably not all that great of gas. I am very happy with the results on the mustang dyno and correction factors after you explain it all to me matt. Once again i cant thank you, tim and everyone else there for putting up with me.

haha you can buy it for me, but that was already on the car and has been for about a year. It works fine, and i couldnt afford the extra dough with the build on a part that wasnt needed. That will probably be an add on when i go back up for the EFR and stage 2 trans.

Ok, yeah either way, it definitely doesn't want to see as much timing as I am used to running on E85.

I'm suprised his torque isn't higher than his hp. Is it less aggressive in mid range? The BNR is one of the smaller upgrades I just expected a little more mid range power. It's nice to see the BNR hold boost that high of rpm though . I'd be interested to see just gas numbers too.

im sure once i get some good summer e85 in it, the timing would be able to be bumped up some.

im happy for the cost of it. I wont be happy with the power for long, but itll do for now. I havent, ill be picking it up from them saturday. Depending on the weather here, i might take it out for a little spin, otherwise itll just go straight into the garage until its nice out.

When you are used to the K04 that won't hold the boost at high rpms, then you get used to seeing torque higher than hp.

I did a little more tuning today and the torque came up a bit to ~405. When I ran higher boost, torque was in the 420s, but max hp was still the same as the boost faded up top. I ended up leaving it at a relatively flat 25psi with 425whp/405ft lbs. I got to drive it on the street as well. It's worthless below 80.
