I could see having to modify the bracket due to clearances but what's wrong with the door?

There is none. We need to manufacture them. Remember, the fisrt turbos are just prototypes. Going into production involves a lot more in the design and manufacuring process.

Thanks for the update..... I will wait for this for certain and will purchase when ready... Please continue to keep us updated... Btw, have you considered a sign up list with low deposit option (couple hundred dollars)? This could certainly go a log way in determining the level of interest and your rate or return. Perhaps starting one 6 months from the anticipated date of release?

if they are still more than six months out on the release date i for one will 99% be passing on this option. i certainly understand keeping costs down to pass onto the consumer and the fact of the efr shortage but more than likely if i have to wait six months for this i am going another route

Matt, when this is available (and I for one have no problem waiting!), would it be reasonable/sensible to visit your shop with money at the ready, and purchase the turbo, the cams with upgraded fuel lobe, and springs all at once, and get them put in and get retuned by you guys?

Just trying to plan this the best way possible for the buck!

Just a random question but did ZZP do a test showing their turbo at "stock" boost levels compared to a stock turbo? i think it would be interesting to see when it would make 15ish lbs and how much more power it makes at the same level of boost pressure.

I think the test they did before shows it making 20 psi before 3k so I'd think that it could do 15psi around 2600rpm. Probly make low to mid 300's at 15psi

Coby is doing very well. He is still very much babied (less than 9K on the odometer still) and is currently in storage for the winter. In the meantime, I have a little project that I have playing with for the past year (2004 mazdaspeed miata) that I am getting ready to do a turbo swap on. Needless to say, I am in no hurry over here. I can understand the drive to swap (having already done the KO4+ because I couldn't wait) but I have also learned the hard lesson of spending extra because I couldn't wait for something. This time around I will wait for EFR - having talked to a variety of people with experience building turbos and whatnot for different platforms this is apparently well worth the wait.

Glad to see you are still on the forums... I only tune in these days when there is something worth reading about...

lookin at some pwerks stuff and treadstone is about to have their manifold ready...hence their turbo kit ready here in about 30 days or so

if i did a bullseye i would probably do the 259 just to have options for power down the road

don't get me wrong i would prefer the efr especially if it comes in at a price point that is appealing.

Yes. We have had a few people come in for a turbo upgrade, cams, valvesprings, and clutch. We dyno tune them after the install, and the tune is significantly discounted.

This may have been asked before, but I read through any many pages as I could. What kind of HP would this turbo make with just basic bolt-on’s like exhaust and intake? I assume it’s over the (roughly) 330 HP the stock one tops out at with a tune.

That would be a wise decision. I did this couple months back. Top notch install and the parts are very well put together. On the side note and a important one to some is there were no extra scratches on the paint. Sometime you will get a few unwanted paint blemishes after it has been in a shop for work but not at ZZP.

How come no one thought of a bolt on solution back in 2008? A majority of people don’t want to change their exhaust manifold, downpipe, charge pipes, etc. to increase turbo performance. It’s just too expensive and too labor intensive.

It seems like 4 years later no one has a bolt on turbo for the Cobalt unless I’m in the dark on that one? The perfect time to design a bolt on turbo would be for the Cruze/Sonic, not the Cobalt.

The problem with the sonic/cruze is you wouldn't be able to make much more power than a stock tc. The displacement is really small and the internals prob won't take much of a beating as the engine wasn't built in the performance aspect. ZZP has already bolted an EFR up to the Cruze. There are bolt on options out there that have been out for over a year, its just most require you to supply your own blow off valve/bypass valve. If you don't want to change from your stock charge pipes then you don't need to be changing the turbo on your car.

It looks like Hahn has a bolt on kit with their Super 20g coming out now but that would need a blow off valve
