108 Octane boost

A friend gave me some Turbo Octane Boost 108 for a gift and Im just wondering if anyone has ever used something like this in a 2.0 Supercharged Cobalt?

Does it add power?
Will it mess with my CEL?
Is it bad for our cars?
etc...

This is a pic of the can.

Octane does not affect power. The octane required is determined by timing settings and combustion chamber temperatures.

So are you saying that this product does nothing for our cars?

It may be ok to run in them, but it will not give you more power.

High octanes are for performance engines (not factory) with really advanced timing and high combustion temps. I made a thread about octane a while back, but I will have to search for it. I will post link if I find it.

i posted this in my regional post, my father races speedway there motorcycles , they run on methonal so i have a good knowleged about engines on methonal, for the stage 2 cobalts the compression under full boost must be around 12.5 -1 or higher it claims factory 9.5 - 1 but the boost creates artficial compression esspecially with the stage 2, now with higher compression we want more octane so with stage 2
100+ octane would be good, but so this fuel i found intresting, you can buy methnol at Canadian tire. They even make special oxygenated methonal, but that another thread

What are some of methanol's characteristics?

M85 (85 percent methanol and 15 percent unleaded gasoline) has an octane rating of 102, compared to 92 for premium unleaded and 87 for regular unleaded gasoline.

M85 showed a 50 percent reduction in total toxic air pollutants suspected or known to cause cancer (including acetaldehyde; benzene; 1,3 butadiene), when compared to gasoline.

here lays the problem this amount of methonal runs cooler then conventional gas.

so plugs will have to be hotter, timing will need to be retared, and more compression is better.

i know this is really long but i am looking for input from you guys

so i am thinking mill the head/after market pistons
hotter plug

just trowing i out there

What are you smoking?
In a boosted vehicle, octane greatly determines power #'s

Running 108 octane allows the car to run more efficiently, allowing for better performance, HOWEVER, it also its self reacts a larger hotter reaction in the chamber, creating more horsepower.

wow.

gonna have to dissagree with this too.

another situation is, if your car runs some knock....your engine will be pulling timing, and therefore losing some power.....(btw i personally believe all stage 2 cobalts have some knock in cold weather)

and if you put higher octane, your computer wont need to pull any timing, thereby allowing full power

i have tried that stuff before, it does NOTHING! the only thing it helps with is if u put like 87 in your car and you need to bump it to like 92 or so
