with that said what about running methanol and e-85? i have been wonderin about that for a while and have been thinkin of doin that...biggest reason i was thinkin of doing it is because the sc gets way hot and i am going to be running a 2.6. with me injecting it before the charger i believe that will help a lot with my iat2's for sure...tell me wrong if i am!

I have considered that, but only with a very small nozzle and spraying only distilled water simply for cooling purposes

Talking E85, is anyone spraying (nitrous) with E85? I'm not a tuner, so excuse my ignorance, but from my past experience its a bad idea to run a lot of timing and spray. Is it different with E85?

Ebristol is playing around with a trifecta modded gm stg3 pcm where he can switch between his normal E85 tune and a E85 nitrous tune. The problem that he is running into is that the pcm takes out too much timing for the nitrous tune. He hasn't played with it a whole lot so my guess is that he should have things figured out by the beginning of summer.

Yes ebristol is running E85 with nitrous. Its nice because you dont have to sacrifice timing when you run nitrous on E

Thats what I wanted to hear! I want to run a small shot of nitrous at the track, not just for a few extra horses, but also to keep the IAT down so I can make plenty of passes without sitting on the sidelines half the time.

So he isn't touching his timing at all before spraying?

IIRC he wanted to stay running 25*, but the ECU kept cutting it to 23* when he entered his nitrous mode with the trifecta gms3 ECU

Not much of a sacrifice, really. Some, but definitely worth it, imo.

You will just be injecting water correct? Since there is no point in injecting meth while running E85. When I considered it I was just going to get a 1 or 2gph nozzle

InfraRedline makes a valid point, if you are only running water through the system to cool the intake charge down then a smaller sized nozzle is needed. I didn't look at what your setup is, but I wouldn't use over a 3gph nozzle unless you are over 350whp. At the same time though going to low won't net you the results you are hoping for. I would suspect 3gph is pretty reasonable and will not flood the engine.

I am getting ready to pick up a set of idc 1000s and toss them in the car with some e85. I am pretty excited however I think next up I will have to do a return style fuel system with a bigger fuel pump. I believe area47 made some posts a year or two ago about all of this though.

Suckmybalts what is your setup? I have the ID1000s in my car currently and on the stock pump they are obviously held back, but they still provide more flow than the 80's. It is kind of a bandaid fix just throwing in the bigger injectors, but if youre just barely maxing out the 80's then the 1000s will get you the fuel you want. But if your setup demands a lot of fuel or you want to cover all your bases the 1000's with a better pump and return style is the way to go...thats the route im heading

i may just get a 2gph just to be safe cuz i don't wanna flood the engine and im not sure what im going to hit as far as power with this set up hoping for 300 but we will see...just kinda doing this till i get money for the 2.4 stroker kit then that is when i go ***** to the wall with everything

He is commanding 24* and the stg 3 pcm is taking out 8* of timing so he is only seeing 16* of timing. If I remember correctly he did say that he didn't notice any/minimal differences on the butt dyno with the way its working.

I think a lot of people that are talking about meth in this tread are forgetting the reasons why you spray meth. You don't just spray it and get power from it. You spray it so it increases the octane allowing you to increase the timing and it helps with cooling.

I thought he figured out why it was pulling 8* and got it to only pull 2? But its been a while since I read his thread, so Ill have to brush up

And thats why I keep telling people if they want to use their meth systems, just spray water and no meth at all.
