Fuel Tank Not Empty?

Does this happen to anyone else.. According to the fuel gauge needle, I go all the way to resting on the red mark. You know, "fuel level low," usually means you have about 20-30 miles left in the tank. Well I use up the whole dad-gum thing, and I have never ever never put more than like 10.5 gallons of fuel in my car in a single fill-up. And that is at several different pumps/stations. And out of every tank I get at least 300+ miles. This is a 13.5 gallon tank, I know that much. So... something is screwed up, but I don't know where.

idk how your not putting that much in. when i have about 1/8th left, i fill up and usually its 11 gallons or sometimes very high in the 10's

regardless, theres always a gallon or so that wont show up on the gauge. It helps prevent people from running dry and getting stuck

I'm sure there is a built-in reserve...you really don't want your fuel pump to be spinning with no fuel in the tank...

how about this, when the tank is on red, fill it up. easy enough, now you wont get stuck.

I just went through this earlier this morning! I went 280 then the low fuel warning turned on then i drove 18 miles before filling up, 11 gallons topped it off completely! from what i understood, our cars have a 2 gallon reserve, so that is why we only top off with 11 or so gallons. Some correct me if I am wrong!

The low fuel warning come on when you drop to 50 miles to empty. During the winter when I average about 24 MPG This usually means I have a little over 2 gallons left in the tank. The cobalt tank is 49 Liters which equals about 13 gallons.

rnjmur - you should think about switching your tune out away from the stage 2. You will see better gas mileage in general.

k is there a light that physically pops on when we're SUPER low on fuel or is it just the "low fuel" on the dic?

most I ever get in there is 11 at the pump. thats if the low fuel light has been on for too long... I think they low fuel comes on with 2-2.5 gallons left, which is OK with me. Rather have more in there than I think I do

I like the idea of a reserve, between 1.5 and 2 gallons.

Why does my 2007 Silverado always run out of gas? The light comes on and I have about 5 miles or so to get gas or it's walking for me! Sometimes I just don't think about it and next thing I know, I'm walking with a gas can in my hand...
