to the OP sorry for the side burst on the a/f ratio questions.
to answer your original post about the 2.9 on the stage tune, you should be ok. the stage tune is rich as hell, but like i said don't beat on it, monitor your car, and make sure you have cooling mods.
thats cool and i wont need a tenisonor will it? and i just did a couple of wot pulls my iat2s are 138-141ish
So. Staged07ss you got the gm stage 3 pcm right? Do u still have your a/c?

It doesn't really get hot here in Northeastern PA, but when it does, I'll just switch back to my stock PCM with the 07' GM Stage tune if I need A/C. The car runs soo much better with the STG3 tune. It pulls alot smoother and harder then it use to. Plus the increased rev limit (i have mine set at 7250rpm) helps me stay in the powerband better when I get on it
But why does it get rid of the a/c? How were u able to set ur rev limiter?
Btw I did a wot pull and by redline my pws were 19.4 so its best I don't get a 2.9 huh

GM Stage 3 deleats the A/C to curb people from using it on the highway since it is an offroad tune (not emissions certified). yeah those injectors are pretty much maxed .... i think mine are in the neighborhood of 17 or 18 ms at redline. ill have to check it today to be certain.

yeah, that's why it's on the verge of being unsafe. some people say its ok to run, and others wont do it unless they have a custom tune. either way the smallest i would go on the 42's and GM Stage tune would be a 2.95. i wont go any lower then the STG3 (2.99) pulley on my STG3 tune, because it runs leaner than the GM Stage tune that comes with the Stage 1 & 2 kits.
You car will always try to combust at the AFR it is commanded to...
Just because you switch pullies, doesnt mean you car is gonna lean out.
If you are at 2.9 running a 11 afr, what afr is your 2.8 gonna run at?... 11...
What happends when the car sees more air? It gives it more fuel.
The only time they will go lean is when the injectors cant keep up anymore...

I have a 2.95 on my car, running somewhere around an 11.4 - 11.5 AFR with custom tune and I am seeing 18.4 pws at 7K RPM with the Stage 2 injectors. I could probably go with a 2.9 but I prefer to keep my car on the safe side and not push it too much.

yeah, it will give more fuel, but if your injectors can't keep up (ie. 42's on a GM tune with a small pulley) you will have no fuel to compensate for your leaner conditions.

I havent found any belts that are smaller than the gm stage 2 belt that are double sided...
You should be okay... i used a stock belt on a 2.8 for a month or two, with no slippage what so ever.. that bitch was on there tight...
The stage 2 belt felt like the stock belt did on the stock pulley, so i could imagine i would be able to use a 2.6 on the stage 2 belt..
The other option is a oversized tensioner...

You will need the bolt removing tool for the SC, and 2 wrenchs + wire ties to loosen the belt and hold the belt in place.
As far as a wrench I think its a 21 mm, and a 19mm open wrench you will need. Go to a autozone and test them out to see the right size.
