Pulley
Hey guys just wondering i know i have the 3" pulley on my gm stage 2 but is it safe to put a 2.9 pulley without having to get retuned? Would i need anything else besides the pulley to change it?

I know a few people who have run a 2.9 on the GM Stage 2 tune and were totally fine. I mean the Stage 2 pulley is a 3.0 (3.065 to be exact)
It would REALLY help if you had some extra colling mods (heat exchanger, dual pass, etc...) but you can run it without any mods.
You won't get the full potential of a 2.9 without a tune. You may or may not even feel a difference, but it will increase performance.

Sweet I have the stage 3 zzp intercooler already for it. does Gm sell a 2.9 or would i have to get it somewhere else? And also do i have to change just the gm pulley or would i have to get other parts for the 2.9 pulley to go on?

by the way its not a zzp stage 3 intercooler .... its a stage 3 heat exchanger

So which is the best to go with...the GM stage 2, ZZP stage 2, or OTTP stage 2 kits? can will the GMPP exhaust and Dc Sports header and Intake be enough supporting mods? Any help is appreciated.

I have got a stage 2 kit that I am wanting to install, but I am going to install the injectors and pulley myself. The local dealer has never installed the kit, much less heard of it, but said they could do it once I showed them the paperwork with the kit. They couldn't give me a definite answer on how much it'd cost to reflash, but what is the GM rate for doing just the stage 2 reflash and what is the average cost to get it done?
Do all GM dealers have to go by the GM labor times for service charges? If so, where can this info be found so that I can point it out to them so that they do not try to dick me over on the reflash costs.
Also, for those that installed the kit themselves and took their car to the dealer for the reflash, did they insist that a road test was required afterwards? I'd rather not have some dealer monkey getting in my car and doing their so called road test, I know how some of them operate. I'd rather them just hook up the Tec II in the parking lot, load the reflash, and then send me on my way

I gave the dealer the kit, and they did everything for like $350. I'd figure it you did the pulley, injectors and belt yourself, the stage 2 reflash will be almost nothing. Figure no more than $100 (an hr of labor)

Hi,
I recently purchased a 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged and it's pretty sweet, I notice things that I didn't hear in my Integra so I thought things were broke from start, but I got it checked out and it's normal. Like the rattling when I go over bumps, sounds like my license plate is lose, but since I have temp tags that's impossible.
Anyway I'm 100% sure I'm getting the OTTP Stage 2 kit, because the Stage 3 is too expensive for me right now.
Can you guys tell me if I should leave the torque management stock or remove it.
It seems like it'd be more reliable if I left it stock.
Thanks

I just read the last few pages of the this thread, and it is question after question. If people would read from the beginning of this thread, all their questions would be answered. I am by no means trying to be an *******, but people need to do a little research of their own.
Cliff Notes (common answers to questions):
What comes with a GM Stage kit ?:
-GM Stage 1 = 42 lb/hr injectors & tune
-GM Stage 2 = 77.9mm pulley, hub, shorter belt, 42 lb/hr injectors, & tune (same as GM Stage 1 tune)
-GM Stage 3 = 76mm pulley, new pcm/tune, dual pass endplate, & uses injectors from GM Stage 1/2, & hub from GM Stage 2.
Are GM Stage kits covered under warrenty ?:
-GM Stage 1/2 are covered under warrenty. GM Stage 3 is for off road use only (no warrenty).
How much boost do the GM Stage kits make ?:
-GM Stage 1 = 12.5psi (same as stock)
-GM Stage 2 = 15psi (on avg.)
-GM Stage 3 = 15.5-16psi (on avg.)
How much horsepower do the GM Stage kits produce ?:
-GM Stage 1 = 236hp & 205tq
-GM Stage 2 = 241hp & 218tq
-GM Stage 3 = 248hp & 260hp w/ 100 octane & 310hp w/ nitrous
*All GM Stage kits can/will make further power with the addition of supporting mods ie. intake, exhaust, cooling.
How much quicker will my GM Stage car be ?:
-GM Stage 1 = 0.3 sec quicker in the 1/4 mile than a stock SS/SC
-GM Stage 2 = 0.7 sec quicker in the 1/4 mile, & 0.5 quicker to 60 mph than a stock SS/SC
-GM Stage 3 = No numbers from GM, but I have managed 0-60 mph in 5.2 sec, but I'm also fully bolted. A standard GM Stage 3 car would prob. knock a tenth or two off of the GM Stage 2 1/4 mile times, and prob. be a tenth quicker to 60 mph on 93 octane mode. On high octane mode or nitrous, it would be much, much quicker.

pefect recap lol would have saved pple plenty of time if they researched

Some amazingly good info in here for those who will spend an hour or so reading it, I can safely say now I am def going to get a GM STG 2 and a 2.9 pulley. Not sure on exhaust or H/E yet, but money is the key here. Plus I still have a warranty haha
