so do we really need bigger injectors if the owners manual says that our cars are already compatible?

I use 60lb injectors. I have E85 stations I pass all the time on my way into work. So using this is OK? it'd be nice for peace of mind knowing detonation would be the last thing going.

I KNOW this. BUT, do we really need 60lb injectors, or can we tune for it on 42lb injectors?

Yes I am running E85 have been for a long time. There are advantages and disadvantages to e85. The plus you can run more timing plus it burns cooler. The minus your gas milage will suffer and cold starts can be tough as ethanol doesnt vaporize very well below like 50 degrees. The things youll want to watch in our fuel system will be the o rings on the fuel injectors but you can purchase ones that are compatable with ethanol and yes you will need 60lb injectors to run e85. E85 also is not always 85% ethanol the blends change with the season to make starts easier in the cooler weather so when in winter it would most likely be E70 which will have a different stoich point than E85 so your tune will need to be different. To determine the change youll also need to be able to test your fuel sample to get the exact ethanol percentage to be acurate with it. Lets not forget the all important wideband aswell. This is not a switch for the newbie just getting started tuning thinking they know what they are doing.

to everyone else, this would be the only person I would listen to on this subject..first hand experience is better than hearsay on the interweb..

to add to my post.
e85 usually needs about 30% more fuel to get to stoichiometric, so expect to be burning alot more.. But the benefits from it are awesome. Friend runs in it his 91 talon, small 16g got him into 11's.. 11.98 to be exact, that car makes 320awhp on a dyno dynamics which is more than most of you would see on a dynojet.. also he saw a better power band and more power out of e85 than he did with c16 race gas.
