In light of recent events, I'm making an early head swap to my rather large head done by josh then heading back to the dyno. Stock cams though; my s2's are now in Taylor's car.

she is running like a beast like Vaughn said. Only problem is with cold start warm ups. It is dumping fuel and misfiring until coolant temps reach 100-110. AFR is pegged at 10.0.1-10.5.1 during this time. When we get some time we will play around with that more.

Saab head. I know.
I will be on the dyno sometime in April, will report results.

Yes I was not impressed at all with the zzp cams compared to their cost. They sounded cool. That was about it.

say what?
and here I take flak on here about how I am wrong for not embracing them? Me who installed them with the right head, the right header the right tune, TVS, got 323 whp on pump gas, made customer deliriously happy and said "I am so happy customer likes them but for me they are a non starter,
built in traction control no torque? Maybe good for 1320""

wow. this is a turn of events.

lol

actually their cost is modest for what they are, and they dialed in 100% ZZP did their homework.

And this is why I told Mr.B to post his proof that stage 2 cams are worth it, he expects everyone to just take his word but we have other people on this forum with a much bigger background in ecotecs saying they not worth it, i wanna see some before and after dyno sheets. Till then im not even wasting money on something that only half the people seem to like and no one has any proof they are worth the upgrade.

Don't take what I sand the wrong way. I did like them. But for what they cost compared to getting a much better cam for much less $$$ directly from comp, I think they're not worth that.

zzp cams are only comp cams ground to zzp specs.

comp cams could have something completely different released under their own name.

would be the difference.

There's a guy at comp named Matt, very smart guy who will tailor a cam set to your specific application. A set of custom grind from them totals around 500. You just have to go through the hassle of getting blanks from ced and sending to them.

The zzp cams are great for what they are. You're paying for a mild cam that just drops right in, no hassle no worries.
I never felt the massive tq loss that jp describes, but my car never spends much time down low. I imagine on a TVS vs a 2.5 m62 it's much more noticeable.

Here. Add on note- stock cams made peak power at 5900 for them.

Likewise, torque was up about 11 numbers to 227.1 lb-ft at 3,900 rpm, a 100-rpm increase over the previous peak point. Although the engine was stronger in the midrange and top end, the gains were made at the expense of less power below 3,500 rpm.

IMO, there is no way the zzp s2 cams come close to a 36hp gain over stock. And this isn't even a custom grind, just their off the shelf ecotec blower grind.

All those tests in that hot rod article were done on an engine dyno, so all their numbers were bhp not whp. 36 hp is still way high.... bhp or not.

It was a neat article, but not the most accurate.
