Le Riceburners OFFICIAL Build Thread
It heats up and the adhesive inside the tape gets warm and gooey and then it basically goes where it needs to, "form fitting" if you will, and then it just seals the exhaust. Old ancient trick that mechanics used to use on military planes in the early wars.
I also just pulled all of that out of my ass

But you have to replace it every hundred miles or 2h of use, thats where rice went wrong
I made a gasket out of tin foil to get me by for a while, and it ended up lasting over a year before it leaked
And I can see Adam just wrapping a big ball of duck tape around the flange union

The only duct tape used in my car is wrapped around the radio tower panels to reduce rattling!
I did use exhaust tape though, between the clamps and the pipes. Bye bye leaks. Matt, i know id be better off having not overclamped the bolts on the first place, but since the pieces would slide off anyway, i had to clamp tighter! And since they leaked, i had to exhaust tape them!

Just saying for others to know if they have issues where it usually begins. BTW it's been awhile I think I'll make that announcement tonight in a separate thread.

I'm willing to bet rice didn't let the exhaust go through a thermal cycle when he first installed it, and re torque to spec...
Exhaust started to get a leak, clamped them tighter.... leaked again.... clamped them tighter, and bam deformed connections.
Happens to the best of us, but can be prevented.

Yes this is know of but what I'm saying is 70% of 2 bolt flanges that come from manufacturers are warped a lot of times and people see them and think they are not tightened all the way and keep tightening them to pull the outsides in and the middle then pulls outwards.

That's why it is always a good idea to inspect the flanges before installing an exhaust.

I started it, drove it around for a bit, took it home, retightened the next day. piece after the resonator just fell off
