something is off. something happened out of the extreme ordinary for this sucker to go. id venture to guess that you held the gear upwards of 4k rpms for about 20 seconds, then laid into it. then it egt's skyrocketed to blamo zone.

dunno, just a guess.

How bad do EGT's get on a 1/4 mi run? That is the most I beat my car and I don't need a piston going. Last time I was there it was hot as ***** out but I let the car cool a good 30 min atleast in between each run with the pump and fans on.

dunno. i did a 65-148 mph run saturday morning. mine hit 1425 at 148 mph when i let up in 4th. no hiccups to speak of.

egt's vary car to car due to difference in tunes.

That is what i figured.. leaner will be hotter right? What is a temp that is "kaboom" territory? I'm sure your meth helps that a **** load too. With the gm tune being so rich I hope doing some 1/4 mi runs won't nuke it.

meth, timing, open exhaust, afr. blah blah blah. i keep the cars at or below 1500 on a 3rd gear pull on a dyno.

street tunes vary.

Im curious as to how you blow the #4 piston? I mean im not too sure as to how it happens. I've had my 05 for a year now and 32,500 on the engine. I just don't want the same problem that's all. Becuase i definately don't have 1500 for new pistons and internals not including whatever else.

It's best to let the car idle for a little bit after a run, even if you have intercooler pump and fans running. Gotta cool the head itself first.

Good luck with that. You might want to pick up some tubes of elbow grease and excedrin while you are out at the store picking up your return fuel system and such.
