Thumbs down postog

I had a leak around the lower flange and downpipe. I ordered a new gasket from GM and tried to install it this afternoon. The high quality flange stripped and now the sob is stuck and I don't have the tools to remove the bolt. ONE more big thank you to TOG!

I wonder if TOG is part of the BBB.. If so could something be done for anyone who have purchased their headers?

That would be great, then guys like me who just plain got ripped off (mine was paid for and never showed) would have some recourse against TOG

the owner moved to another state and appearently no one knows anything.. not even jon, who was appearently running the shop without any oversight from the owner

forget about the bbb, if you got ripped off you should contact the fbi what happened here looks nothing short of fraud or theft by deception

that probably works for all of you in the U.S. but I don't recall a local FBI office here in or maybe because this a different country I can try Interpol
Either way I paid for a product that never showed up and so far it sounds like I'm the only one and of course losing $500. really sucks.

Update
Rem Flex is going to make both the Head flange and Exhaust flange gasket based on a drawing that we're sending to them either tonight or tomorrow.(depends on when I get home) Once they get the 'OK' it will be 5 days to produce the first one to test fit and after that I'll have them available for sale. (I'm purchasing a good number of them to get it started)
Since a lot of people question my motives I didn't ask for exclusive rights to the gasket tooling and I changed the design to a more generic profile so anyone will be able to purchase a gasket from RemFlex to work with any ECOTEC engine once they are available.

These gaskets are 1/8” thick and compress 50% so this should take care of any leaks at both flanges. Also they rebound 30% so the chances of time causing a leak from movement will be unlikely. It’s not a group buy or one time deal they will be available as soon as the tooling is completed.

Just understand that even compressing down to .0625” will add a bit of space between the head and header. The same holds true for the exhaust gasket and it will have a 2.75” ID and no larger. The TOG header is a little more than 3.0” opening, but the exhaust pipe is only 2.5”. I needed to do this so there is enough material between the 2 flanges to be safe and guarantee a good seal. The combination of the 2 gaskets could possibly cause interference issues with the header and sway bar under certain conditions or other unknown fit problems, but for the most part it should work.
I do know that the TOG headers don’t even fit in the SCdyne fixture tool so something isn’t kosher with that. My fixture was made around the stock manifold then the header was built within the limits of the 2 flanges. From what I understand the TOG header was built on the car and is probably different. This may not be a problem, but it’s something to consider.

My SCDYNE header has been great since day 1. No leaks and I used my stock gasket.

Thumbs up Header is now working?

I have all stripped bolts repaired and all gaskets repaired. The header appears at this time to be functioning as advertised.

Can you feel any gains? Lower/Top end? Also, what did you do for the top gasket and lower gasket? Thanks

Talking TOG Gains

I used a new stock gasket on the downpipe and made a gasket for the manifold. I have noticed a slight decrease in power at the low end but a real kick in the mid to upper RPM range.

I did have to make the gasket that goes on the flange by hand. I used the felpro ceramic metal sandwich gasket material it appears to be working great. I have noticed any power gains. In fact it feels the other way. Will the computer catch up with mod and adjust?

AWESOME.. How bout a part number for the gasket.. lIke i asked before my dealer is stupid and doesn't show one.

Does anyone have any before and after dyno results from this header as I'm contemplating selling these if they don't offer good results.

10whp/5tq on a mustang dyno, it's a steady, smooth advantage over the entire rpm band

Heads up on the TOG header. Now that my engine is out and the header pulled off it is easy to see that the header was leaking on both ends. Perhaps it was just the Felpro gasket I made but considering it was on both ends and not in the middle, it is quite likely because the mounting flange itself is warped. I did not hear an ehaust leak but it is obvious that it was leaking and there is a pic of the engine without header in my gallery.
Something the guys running a TOG should be aware of.

No, you are off the hook I was the last one to get one from TOG. This one might still work fine but the cost of getting a high quality gasket made locally is going to be $200. Once I get mine back (sent it to JBP) I will likely sell it for $100. and then someone can afford to make(or have one made) a quality gasket.

I couldn't remember who i sold it to. When i first put mine on it had a little leak in the center where there was somthing on the gasket but after i cleaned it off it was good to go. I just though you bought mine but mine was good.
