ss/sc 300hp
i dont know that what blazzen said that what i want to know. only thing i can think is it will lower the compression cause for a split sec the intake and exhaust will be open at the same time.
my cobalt is nothing compared to a BMW
i think that BMW's are much better than cobalts especially the 3 series!!

now not trying to be a douche or call you out, but how much do you really know or experience do you have with high compression motors and large boost numbers? What kind of facts/knowledge do you have to back up your claims?
While higher compression can be a bit riskier when it comes to blowing an engine, its not something you can really just say on a whim that its going to start creating some serious problems. There is nothing wrong with high compression/high HP/high boost as long as the tune is right and engine is built right.

high CR, high boost PUMP GAS motors never last in a though environment.
the DCR you get on such a set up forces you to run lack-luster timeing numbers to keep KR under control, and if you pull timeing back enough to make it happy on pump you then start to sore EGT's out of the ballpark.
meth will allow you to run a decent pump gas tune but then your engine life is solely dependent on it.
not my cup of tea. I've watched multi-thoushand dollar meth kits on devel engines fail, let alone these crap $200 and $300 kits that most run.
the big dollar kits run every thing from flow sensors to line pressure pick ups, yet the allowed window was enough to pop it.
DCR yes, but SCR no.

the issue that you, and the others are missing is longevity.

Would you agree that with the M62 the best way to make power would be with the higher compression pistons? Since you get to a point where you cant make anymore boost efficiently.
pump gas, no, i made more then this magic little mark 3+ years ago with nothing but boost and timing. a higher CR would have forced timing to be pulled thus unsafe conditions(EGT's)
bumping the SCR with pistons will have a exponential effect on a riseing DCR thus forcing timing to be pulled back unless you bump octane.
depends on what your after power wise, and on what fuel.

Ok good information thanks. I know on the high hp high boost stuff they usually drop the CR rev it to the moon and run large boost for power. I was just thinking without overspinning etc you could run the high comp but I wasn't taking into account the fact that the timing has to be pulled to do so.
I know there has been a few good tuners who have made over 300 without any internal work but for the average person it seems difficult.
I would say full bolt ons 2.7 meth and a ported head would be a safe bet...and i will be finding out shortly.

I ended up having to stay at the shop late. Dave said he saw a bunch of Cobalts with us plates at the highland must have been you guys. He also told me he got a speeding ticket in his Ion about 5miles away from GBM lol
you could cut circles outta some old license plates and powdercoat them gold...06black coulda shown you how to use a cut off saw....seriously stiner you missed the sight of canada geese plumetting to the ground coz they thought Bryan and Pauls BOV went off and hit them

didhe tell you is olds88 beater threw a rod 500 yards from GBM's shop when he went up to get the redline? more lawlz.....

now thats a gun shoot!!!
STU - Bro, wow, I really can't believe you just called me out like that lol. First off I don't even have a 2.5inch pulley and I have NEVER met area let alone raced him before. The only 2 meets I have attended was a chicago CED meet last summer and the last ohio meet and I did NO racing at either of those. Anyways, my highest dyno sheet shows 280+whp and thats with roughly 22 degrees of timing, not sure the specific tune I was using at the time. I have never ran the balt at the track, just got back from a cross country trip and plan on running it soon. Pretty sure this thread has taken a huge curve but I have always been on your side with things you say and how you help our community. However you must be mistaking if your talking about me racing and losing to area47 there's no possible way that could have been me lol. But if you would like once I do a little more work to the car I will put her back on the dyno without nitrous and with the 35shot. I don't feel comfortable running a 50shot.
All I was trying to say is that I don't understand this whole big 300whp mark without nitrous. I don't really think its all that big of a deal. But I WILL this summer drop down pulley sizes, change my tune a bit, rev up to 7500rpms and post my dyno sheet of 300whp or more WITHOUT nitrous.
If you don't believe i'm putting down 280whp now that's your provocative but on my mothers life thats what the dyno said. Whether or not its a happy dyno I have no clue.
But don't call me out saying this and that when I am not even using a 2.5 inch pulley right now, and have NEVER street raced area and have NEVER taken the balt to the track.
edit: Stu - please tell me your going to the chicago or ohio meet lol.
Edit: just realized that you said altilery54 and not area47 lol my bad, either way I have NOT raced either of them. The ONLY cobalt I have raced is a stock 09 turbo cobalt.

im not going to either meets. you need to re-read my entire post.
i see you edited, disregard this post then
my points:
altiery claims to have raced you, and beaten you when you were at your claim of 280whp mark.
you arent making that much power on the 2.8, its a happy dyno. hence why i asked for traps.
i never said you run a 2.5, im telling you that you wont run it on 25* without a God tuning it on some ridiculous fuel.
those are my only problems right now, im not "calling you out" simply speaking the truth.

stu - no worries it just felt like you were calling me out. I have not ran a 2.5 inch pulley, and I AM putting down 280+whp on a summer tune with methanol injection and a 2.8 inch pulley. Also, I have raced one other member on this board, I forget his name but he has a turbo sedan, and I barely beat him but did and he was putting down some very decent numbers and WAY more tq then me.
But no, I don't even think I have met chris aka altilery54 nor have I raced him. The only person I met out in chicago was ssdan to buy some nitrous parts and then some kid for snow tires, didn't race either.
Also I am my own tuner, and do all of my own tuning and help people with there cars etc so I wouldn't need to "find a badass tuner". I am by no means a badass tuner but I am good enough to make other people very happy with there cars and mine.
