Water Wetter in IC system???
#3
OP, adding water wetter to the intercooling system while you are still running a full coolant mix wont do much of anything at all. If you plan on running straight distilled water throw some in the mix.
I used to add water wetter, but after some tests with different coolant mixes, I noticed it didnt do much of anything for the intercooling system.

Now, if you run straight distilled water in your intercooling system, water wetter will help.
Like i mentioned before, the Time Attack Cobalt ran straight distilled water with water wetter.

If you plan on using straight distilled water, I recommend using the whole bottle.
Remember to switch back to a 50/50 dexcool mix for the winter months if you choose to use straight water in the summer.

cool. yea i'm planning on doing that, just going straight water for the summer. but its gotta be distilled right?
my buddy has a 88 firebird pushing 550 horse running 11.3's all day now... told me he jsut switched to all water and saw 10-15 degrees cooler temps so doing this!

Do not add the whole bottle. That is 100% wrong. Read the directions, it's 5 cap-fulls per every quart. It comes no-where near being the entire bottle.
On my SRT4 my IAT's are generally 7°F over ambient. Oh how I don't miss the heat-soak. Anyway, good luck. It made a decent difference when I had my SS.

I got that information from people who worked on the Time Attack Cobalt.
Time Attacks cooling system:
-GMR Dual Pass
-Griffin Heat Exchanger
-Opt. B
-Distilled water & 1-bottle of water wetter
Straight from a GM Engineer:
"Jeff, In all of our racing applications we use only water and water wetter. So you will be fine with the 80/20 mix. In the summer you can get slightly cooler temp using one bottle of water wetter and the rest water. be careful because this in not recommended for any temps below 32 degrees"
Good point.
If you have the stock cooling system, use only half the bottle if you plan on running straight distilled water.
Again, if you plan on mixing it with a 50/50 coolant mix follow the directions on the bottle.
