I just finished reading the entire thread and would like to add my two cents. It is simply amazing that a company has conducted the R&D for this platform considering the demographics. I'm privy to some R&D with products on one of the largest delivery fleets in the world and state that it is labor intensive. Congratulations!!
Call me old school but I love Zoomer's posts. I have spent a lot of time around some tough NCOs while in the military and some of our high level managers in various assignments. They don't bullshit and tell you like it is. Sometimes your feelings may get hurt but I have found you learn from what was stated. They may not be 100% accurate and it is not exactly textbook application of people skills, but it works.
I have been pricing the expense of building an LSJ to my horsepower and torque goals the last few weeks. It appears I cannot touch my buld for the price of ZZP's.....not to mention the reliability they have provided in this thread. I know where I will be spending my hard earned $$ and seek guidance on the build.
The one thing I have been pondering is the possibility of a rear wheel drive converstion for the balt using the Solstice drivetrain. Maybe that is a project you may consider in the future.

Ryan stuck a used trans in the other day, but it had worse problems than the trans he took out. We made a change of plans.

Curious as to how you accomplished this? Did you remove the steel sleave inside the oil filter housing and block off the holes? Or did you mock up your own plate with fittings to run an aftermarket external cooler. (Similer to the set-up that sand-rail guy makes)

its easier then you think to do just unbolt the oil cooler from the adapter flange and weld in an fittings or tap it for pipe

 

Well I don't think welding to the block would be a good idea, unless I'm reading what you wrote wrong. I was going to tap it but I don't wanna run a cooler at all, I have a new idea using a block of machined aluminum.

I'm mostly curious to see if they pulled the steel sleave out...which is what I originaly wanted to do...problem is I'm worried about cracking the block in the process.

 

I see a log looking manifold, Not sure how well it flows on the inside But would you consider a small tubular manifold, Might flow a little better by the looks of it.

Yes, thats exactly what I'm doing.

Did I ask them to solve the problem for me? No.

I already have a soloution to this problem using a block of machined aluminum as I previously mentioned.

I simply asked them how they went about solving the same issue out of curiousity.
