ZZP Downpipe w/cat
you'll love it man. you MIGHT get a CEL with the DP.. some do, some don't. I for one, did with the header/DP. But its nothing major, just get someone with HPT to disable your rear o2 sensor and you'll be good to go!
Can someone tell me if this dp needs to be a weld in or bolt in. Im away at college n my car is at home so i cant crawl under it to check. I am about to order this setup n want to get the right one.
i just want to make sure it lowers my exhaust note a bit on my 2.4... is that so hard LOL
i am getting mine installed tomorrow professinally i really don't wanna mess with it , has anyone heard about the whisting problems from the cat ? some say you only get that if its installed wrong.
I had planned on the 2.5. Then going and changing out the portion of the stock 2 1/4 piping to 2.5. I wanted to keep it at 2.5 all the way out. I haven't contacted zzp yet. I was keeping them as my last resource hoping that someone here would have an answer.
now as far a catless ..... LOL I am all about performance. do the 3" with cat.
My experience thus far. 3in catless and stock rear exhaust. it was ok not too lound but border line. I like it. but the rear exhaust cracked. so I decided to go with my plan for 3". put in a FLo-Pro and found it too loud. I sure like it but it needs to be quiter. In goes a cat to be legal and in hopes it will bring it down to a reasonable exhaust note cruising on the highway. it is just about tolerable in city cruising. stop and start sucks. I honestly enjoy the s/c more than the exhaust, but I want performance, daily driver. so the trick is finding the right balance.
I feel ZZP header, 3 inch down pipe with cat reducing to 2.5" connected to stock cat back will satisfy most. after that then go 2.5" catback system. bolts in and go. emmissions legal, improves power, reasonable cost.
hope that helps. let you know how mine ends up.
I think somthing is up with my SC possibly or I am just more free flowing. boost is very linear vs others. I do build up to 16 to 17lbs boost (depending on gear).
Anyway from a 2nc gear roll at about 25MPH I was short of a car length (running up to 1/4 mile speed) It wasnt until third gear that I pulled away. 2nd gear was fairly even. by rights I should have left him all the way. Now I am getting a cat so we shall see what change it makes with everything else being equal.
By the way I have my sound clip on vid. then I want another with cat. I am 3" all the way though. My friend has mid length header with cat down pipe. he loves and I am partial to it too. it is the sound he wanted with out being stupid loud like my exhaust is right now. I want a clip of his and we could share that with you.

hey guys i just got the zzp mid length headers with the cat back/stanless steel option/3'' dp with 2.5 bolt on exit. i talked to zzp, they told me it would be an easy hook up to my corsa tour exhaust. i get back from iraq in about 2 months. i will send pics and info with the setup when i am finished.

I actually tested the theory about the catless thing losing performance (somewhat). After I installed the header/dp/HF cat I drove about 3 or so miles and the 2 bolts supplied by ZZP on the header/dp snapped and they were disconnected. The exhaust was coming out of the end of the header. It was extremely loud but when I tried to accelerate it had a minor loss of low end torque and I thought my car was fucked up for sure because of the loss of performance. I took it back to my shop at home and was relieved that it was just 2 bolts, easily replaceable. But once I hooked it back up and drove around Atlanta for a little bit it clearly gained back its low end torque and its been great ever since.
