So my motor needs to be torn apart this winter. it set from blowing a tob so i i updated everything on the clutch side. started ticking up top after i started it. so now it comes back apart. this current build has about 15k miles.

Current build:
bates sleeves
Bates Hardened Oil Pump Gears
Bates Neutral balance shafts
Weisco 10:1 pistons .020 overbore
Eagle H-Rods
Ported Head
Supertech valvetrain
94lb Dual valve springs
.05 oversize Valves
Comp Cam Stage 2 NA Cams
ARP Head studs
Exedy Lightweight Flywheel
Exedy Stage 2, 3 Puck Clutch
ZZP axles
80's EV6
Poly Trans Mounts

plans are to freshen up the motor with all new seals, bearings, etc. maybe add an ati balancer and slap this turbo setup i have on it. the car is currently supercharged and made a great dd. now its time to fix it and get it to a better dd status. anyone have any experience with the cometic head gasket? used a stock one originally and it made it to 7k miles before it went bad and i replaced it

If this is a daily and you don't rev past 8k put the 75 lb springs in, that'll help the timing components last.

What do you mean by this?

Also, I had a Cometic head gasket up until my last (failed) build. Never gave me any problems.

Was this a GM head gasket that only lasted 7K miles or an "OEM-like" gasket made by someone else?

gotcha

yeah the Cometic head gasket was fine for me, never leaked but kinda unnecessary $$ spent I think

according to this post you can run an LSJ head gasket on the L61, maybe go that route?
