How is this sounding so far..?
The top header is a TriY or 4-2-1 design, it has 4 primaries that merge into 2 larger secondary pipes, and then into 1 collector. 4, 2, 1.....get it?
The bottom header is a single merge, or 4-1 design, that is all 4 primaries merge into the collector at once.
421 and TriY are different names for same thing.
Youll find TriYs tend to offer noticeable more torque than a 4-1(single merge) design, and more horsepower through the midrange, a 421 will give up some horsepower at the very peak to a properly designed single merge, but IMO its not enough to justify giving up the edge the 421 has down low and in the middle.

Yes I would definitely go 1 5/8 over 1 3/4 for your build.

I think catless sounds like ass on these cars, not worth the extra 2hp in my opinion.

I'm in the same boat as the OP...kind of....
I have a Pacesetter (for the LSJ 1.75" primaries) and an Exhaust Depot catless DP. I also have a stock LSJ cat-back. All of them haven't been installed yet. I'm trying to wait a while as I only have an Injen CAI so far. My end goals are to SC the car. That's the reason I went with the size I did (plus I got a wonderful deal on it from someone here).
My question is this (I didn't read the entire thread)...what will happen with this setup? Being that it's the stock LSJ cat-back it's a little more restrictive than an aftermarket so will it perform a tad bit better than what OP 's would? Would I have any gains in any power band? My goals for right now until the car is paid off are MPG...intake, full exhaust, and a Trifecta tune. Once the car is paid off I plan to put together the SC which probably won't be until at least summer of 2011. Possibly later.
Would I be best off just waiting on installing the exhaust? Also, any opinions as to the sound of the catless DP with the stock LSJ cat-back? Would there be any benefit to just installing the cat-back without the header/dp (in terms of power or mpg)?
Thanks for any help.
Otherwise, if I pick up a Pacesetter with the smaller primaries for now, would that work OK with the catless DP and LSJ cat-back? If so, I'll try to find one pretty cheap that I can install for now and get rid of later when I get the SC setup ready to go.
