Screw GM

As some of you know a while back i hit a deer and i hd the ss/sc front bumper put on my ls.
the other day after i cleaned up my car i noticed that the bumper had runs so i took it back and they are repainting it now as i speak and they were gonna put my fog lights in and wire them up to a toggle but they called me and gave me this bullshit saying that they could not do it cause it may cause a fire
any suggesstions on how i wire up my fogs now?
they are gonna put the fogs in but they are not gonna wire them up

Do you require them to be on a seperate switch from your headlights? If not, just splice them into your headlight wires.

there's a how-to on wiring it up to the headlights. i may be wrong but it shouldn't be too hard to put a switch on it.

its actually wired up to the fogs I believe. This would put you ina position where you will make many of us jealous because your lights will automatically come on and shouldn't turn off when you put the high beams on.

Its not Bull****, its that if somehting blows or stops working, and your car is still under warranty, you'll be back in there complaining they did it and its their responsibility.

If you mod you take responsibility for the things you change unless they are authorized GM accessories. Its not GM's fault whatsoever, its the Dealer not wanting to accept the responsibility if something goes wrong. Just as if you wire them up, and fry something, they wont warranty whatever fried because of it.

Im not trying to be an ass about it, but you need to look at it from their side, be the guy behind the counter, somone walks in, and says "these dont work anymore or somethings not right" if you were the one getting paid half labor rate for warranty work, would you work on something someone modded and potentioaly caused the problem? The dealer repairs vehicles back to factory spec, anything above and beyond that, its something that a deal does, beacuse its better than another, but it does't mean that every dealer is going to do it just cause you want them to.

Screw GM?

Honestly thats normal... i dont know of many dealerships that will wire up lighting for you.. You'll either need to do it yourself or take it to a car installation shop. I had a place wire up fogs for me before and they worked fine but after some time i started getting flickering in my dash controls... .. it was about 2 years later but my dash controls ended up going out becuz there was a short in how they wired it up.. so make sure either way you do it.. ITS DONE RIGHT

So you're mad cause your dealership was worried about your safety?

Also note that even if it was BS, dealerships are NOT performance shops nor are they automotive electronics shops. They deal with retail and stock parts, not ghetto rigging up wires, mismatching parts and modifying cars.

First mistake was expecting so much out of a dealership.

I say wire em the same way Belto did. I wish my fogs came on automatically. Stupid GM for hooking them up to be able to turn them on and off at my convenience
