Sentry's Turbo Build Thread Extravaganza!
The flickering could be coming from your battery charger, i have seen chargers cause the dash lights to look like they are pulsing. Hopefully the dealer will find out the problem, but i would like to know what the mechanic did with the car. Sounds fishy that it ran before, but not after.
DO NOT disconnect your battery while the car is running to test your alternator. Your car will not run anyhow so you can't but NEVER do that on a computer controlled car. A simple test with a voltmeter will verify if your alternator is operating proplerly. But your alternator has nothing to do withn your problem so don't worry about that...

You're a gm mechanic are you not?
they said they wont help bc its aftermarket turbo'd?ur not in for warranty work, ur in to pay money to have it worked on, they charge a hourly rate your going to pay i dont see why they would refuse money
Yea, i'm a gm tech. I hate when dealers do this ****. Find another dealer or go talk to someone else at that dealer, tell em not to be scared, it's just a cobalt with some issues. You really need to make nice with one of the techs and explain everything to them. But beware most techs get paid flat rate and they will run from **** like this because they are afraid they won't make money working on it. Just tell them you need the ecm and body control system checked out, you think the theft deterent is activated for no reason. But make sure you tell them as much as possible about the things you have done they can properly diag it. Just don't expect this to be covered under warranty, and they could possibly put a waranty block on it if the service manager is a dick. Wish i was closer to you. I could fix this **** for sure...
yeah, i have a buddy in 2 dealers, both in the service departments, so while one of them is a total goof ball, its always a funny story when i go to that dealer lol, whle the other one tends to be the on i would trust to work on my car :p
Well, good news is that I got the guy at the Chevy dealership to work on my car.
Bad new is, they won't be able to get to it until Monday. Go figure.
Either way, I'm just happy it's finally going to get fixed.
tuning should resume monday.

I don't think they looked at it until late today. I called them at 4:30, and they were still diagnosing it. They think it's the theft deterrent shutting it off, just like we said all along. They should have it at least running by tomorrow, since it will be their first job since they didn't finish today. I'm not excited about seeing the bill though. Probably a couple hours of labor at least.
Guess what guys, it's running!!!
They said the problem was the ecm, it didn't take the tune I tried to load. So, they cleared it and reflashed it and I will have a running car as soon as I get back from work! Hopefully I can shoot a quick video tonight.

thats strange .. very strange.. so did trying to load a new tune brick the ecm.. or just put on theft deterent or none of the above
Awesome! cant wait to see the video.
Yes, they flashed it back to stock. And he was like " it's running like ****!". Well, running 42's on an untuned engine tends to do that... haha.
Yeah ill tune it when i get home.

I went and looked at it. It's definitely running rough, but it's nothing a tune couldn't fix.
Paid the dealership an undisclosed amount of money, a very pretty penny to be exact. Sucks, but at least it's running.
I went to tune it and guess what? The SD card isn't in the tuner! I forgot I left it here at the house, now I'm on the way back to load the tune, and hopefully drive the bastard home!
Wish me luck!

Wow. Speechless right now.
I got to the car, made sure it ran first. It did, just bad because of no tune.
Loaded the tune, and same issue. Cranks.....then dies. Over and over. No codes, no nothing.
Reverted back to stock programming, and it starts right up. I can't drive it of course because it's not tuned.
Soooo, car is still at the dealership. I planned to drive it home, but that's not going to happen anytime soon.
Vince is on vacation starting today, and won't be back until Friday. Kind of sickened really.
It's obviously the tune, I just don't know where to begin troubleshooting. How could it be off that much?
