Unsure what I'm gonna do yet, might drill and tap the head for M8 bolts I have or I'll have to bring in some new shoulder bolts. Will be swapping in a ported m62 housing in the next few weeks or so. Also picked up a 2.7" pulley and a supercharger spacer.. For the time being, I think I've decided to cut a section out of my rad fan module shell to give my manifold OUT hoses some more room as it is just way way to tight there
Hey brotha sorry to hear about the issues your having. Hopefully you can get the problem fixed with the M8 bolts. On a positive note glad to hear you got the 2.7 pulley. I know you mentioned to me before you were dropping another pulley size so that is good. And yeah definitely time now for a ported blower brotha. Will the spacer lower IATs a lot more? Also here is the guy I got my blower from. I forgot to mention that the last time I was online here. Goes by JNR on Ebay. Here is the link below. Does really good work man everything when I got it came out soo smooth. And the outlet is ported just enuff but not too much and the inlet is ported perfectly to match your LS4 TB you got. The only crappy thing is he uses UPS so be prepaired to pay extra brokerage fee at the door since you are in good ol Canada like me brotha lol. Also he says if you ship him your old housing back he refunds you like $50 American(not sure what it would be in Canadian funds since our crappy dollar fluctuates lol)

Haven't decided yet what to do, I mean the bolts may be tight enough to mount the supercharger and worry about them another day lol.. we'll see haha....
Yeah that's the same guy I bought mine from lol, it was pretty cheap, couldn't resist. Looks very well done, inlet looks like it's right to the edge!
Mine hasn't shipped yet, didn't think there would be brokerage :/ but I suppose it is what it is. Very excited!

No, the ported supercharger should reduce temperature. The supercharger spacer will just flow the air a little better (more plenum), but more importantly the added height should offset the smaller pulley, that and it has two ports which could be used for water/meth, temp sensor or a vacuum source.. Been thinking for a while of splicing another pump into my meth controller, spray water pre blower, water/meth post blower.. just an idea though for now..
I ended up cutting a little section out of my Rad fan module last night and I can't believe I didn't do it from the start. I'll post a pic later, it'll make sense..

Yeah he comes highly recommended from other cobalt guys on here. And yes you will not be disappointed with his work brotha. It looks like brand new when I got mine and yes everything is smooth out perfectly. Yeah the only crappy thing was the brokerage fee so that's why I wanted to give you a heads up on that. I ended up paying like $75 extra dollars at my door. But like you said brotha it is what is. And once I saw the quality of his work I forgot about the extra few bucks lol. Hey man yeah if doing a little custom job works to give you the room to having everything setup the way you need then giver brotha lol. When you think you'll be back at the track for a run? Oh and maybe this is a dumb question but I was on zzp website the other night(cant lie i'm on there every freaking night lol) and I saw you can get an adjustable tensioner which is good up to a 2.7 pulley and with that you don't have to keep changing belts when you drop a pulley. I'm actually thinking about getting that when I eventually drop to the 2.9 pulley and also add stealth heat exchanger for the additional cooling. Can the tensioner be used for the 2.2 and 2.4 engines? Or is it just LSJ only?

And the other thing I heard you can do is used the LSJ oversized pulley and stage 2 belt

You can use the adjustable tensioner as long as you have the lsj tensioner in your car and not the belt setup that comes in the zzp sc kit

Hmm I'm gonna have to look for him on here later. Very confident this is going to be a great buy!!
I've heard amazing thing's about category V porting and their iconic "Christmas tree" outlet port, but it was a decent bit more money.... and my car doesn't deserve such nice things lol.

I think I'd at least like to run with the ported housing right off the bat, so minimum 1 month away. Looks like our strip is open this season, so I should have right up till October to score a 13 to continue moving down a second every year.. it's gonna happen!

The adjustable tensioner will technically fit our engines, but you'll need to use some LSJ drive components in conjunction. I believe USMC or chevygirl mentioned this a few pages back on this thread. I can't quite recall.. I dream of having one, would save so much headache, also I feel belt alignment would be a lot easier, but If i can get away with just spacers to offset pulley change and retain my stock belt with no slip, I'm happy.

edit: nm look above

unsure about the oversized tensioner .. Remember it will be oversized compared to a stock LSJ, but in all honesty it could be the same pulley we already received in our supercharger kits. I would inquire ZZP what the dimensions are between the two.

If the pulley is indeed larger, your on the right track, you can proportionally move to a smaller supercharger pulley and belt tension would remain the same.
I wish there was a sticky somewhere on proportional changes to belt tension using spacers, larger/smaller crank pullies, larger/smaller idlers, and supercharger pully size. But in essence, adding height to the belt drive system, or if you add tension, to use the same belt, you will need to remove it elsewhere

I have no doubt you will get 13's this year brotha. Especially with the new setup and 2.7 pulley. Yeah I just read Chevygirl's post lol. In the back of my brain I was thinking that was the case with the 2.2/2.4 kit. So what do I have to add in order to run a 2.9 pulley and not have belt slippage? Just the phenolic spacer?

Yeah brotha let me know what zzp says if you do email them about this. i'm probably it wont work unless you have the lsj drive belt. This guy here in his 2.4 hhr used the lsj components including oversized pulley and stage 2 belt so he could go with a 2.9 pulley.

I would suggest the phenolic spacer yes. Its a mod on it's own and I know for a fact it will pick up the slack moving from a 3.1 to a 2.9" supercharger pulley when using the wooden spacer and two paper gaskets.
You will need M6 shoulder bolts or re-drill your head for M8 (bolts supplied in the kit are M8). Bolts I used were 5 x M6 8x20mm and 2 x M6 8x70mm (using a locking washer as-well on every bolt) .

Unconfirmed yet, but I am anticipating the supercharger spacer will also offset the supercharger pulley by 2 sizes. (which would require less custom stuff) but I have yet to test that out, I could probably test it out in a few days let you know if I'm correct.

Where did you buy the M6 bolts from? Can I get them off of ebay or my local hardware store/Canadian Tire store?

I got mine off eBay. It was a generic shoulder bolt listing and then it drops down to more specific sizes

Think I remember also finding a listing on Acklands Canada. Home Depot will likely, not have them. Our speciality bolt store here didn’t even have them, it’s a special order for sure

Awesome tks brotha. I'll definitely get these once I drop to the 2.9 pulley. Was the stealth heat exchanger easy to install? I know i'm probably going to need that as well.

No problemo. Was very easy, mounting tabs need to be bent a smidge but it’s straight forward.

I just went on ZZP's website with exchange rate and shipping cost the heat exchanger is going to be over $500 Canadian. Damn lol. Just have to save up them pennies again and buy it when I can lol. Or wait until the next black Friday sale haha

ooof that sounds about right.. yeah wasn't a cheap thing. I've decided to reorder M6 shoulder bolts. I have access to tools to drill and tap the M8 ones but I don't trust myself lmfao.... Acklands currently has stock in Calgary (though I may have just bought the last of it...) EBP6EU32 and EBP54FJ84 are the part numbers.

Started re-plumbing my HE system last night and it is starting to look better than it's ever been!

send me a picture of the zzp heat exchanger that you are looking at. I have a couple heat exchangers at home and it could be one of those will work for you at a price a lot lower.

Thanks guys I had no idea there was another version of the HE other than Stealth and the stock SS/SC unit. At least I know now I got options when I decide to drop down to the 2.9 pulley and add the additional heat exchanger.

The Griffin is what Powell and GM developed for the Time Attack car back in... 05?

They're impossible to find these days, but also the best that you can get.

Does it have to be modified to fit a non Cobalt SS? I got a 2007 Pontiac G5 GT with the auto transmission just for reference. And tks again man for this info. Is there a reason they stopped making it you think? I mean from what you guys are saying it was very popular among the Cobalt crowd. I do now remember hearing about the Griffin but honestly never paid attention because at the time my car was basically brand new and I did not think that I would be keeping this car long term at the time and definitely never thought about boosting it. Fast forward almost 15 years later I still have the car and now going boost. Comes full circle I guess lol. That's why I'm really enjoying your build and G5 Alive because you know what its like to start from stock and decide to now totally transform it into something hopefully better and a lot more fun.

I don't know, but don't think so. The auto trans might be the only thing "problematic". It is designed to fit JUST like the OE unit - same bent tubes running under the radiator and everything.

No idea why they stopped making it... likely because the community died off.

To be honest, I would bet that you could call Griffin and that they still have the designs to make it. They do custom stuff for people all the time. I considered doing one for my S5 when I had it.

Think you could post a picture of it at your convivence, I'm honestly quite curious what the Griffin even looks like, never found a photo of one...

Tks man I think I will email them just to see what they say about it. And yes having the auto tragic is always problematic lol that's why I keep my hp numbers at a reasonable level 230-240 ish at the wheels is fine for my vehicle aka fun little daily driver
