jimbos'ss turbo build
W00T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i just got word from aaron @ ttr. my pistons shipped yesterday and they will be at my house by tuesday. so my motor can go to the cryo shop wednesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its placement, now paul might need to change it around later with the built motor, but at that point you'll be past the stock ECM and in stand alone range.....yummm SD.
arggggggg
every one-
none of you with stock cams (hell even with a mild 270ish cam) need a new maf, YOUR NOT MOVING THE AIR NEEDED TO WARRANT A LARGER MAF. with a larger size we sacrifice resolution.
Take careful consideration of your placement (no bends, ect) sink it in a 3in pipe and your golden....
ohh, yea, one more thing, use a redline MAF.
its a denso style, not our GT series, thus it'll fit any autozone MAF adapter in the world, that will solve your maf mounting issues.
i put mine in the car durring the re-build so i started my turbo re-tune with it, thus i had to write a whole new maf curve any way!
ok so if you lose maf resolution, does that mean that your freq's will be more spaced out, or that the maf won't be able to read as low of freq's as before?
basically, resolution is this...
a high resolution can pick up on air changes of say 5g/sec thus your maf output freq changes up or down on the table.
if you lower resolution is might take 10,15,20,ect extra G/sec to trip the maf freq into the next cell.
Like I said before though, I'm not sure the LS2 MAF is worth it because I'm almost maxxing out MAF hz already and only at 19-20psi for now and my little 50 trim ain't all that much. I only got it for ease of installation with the clamps. I'd stick to a stock sensor like 06black said and put it in a bigger pipe.
got a question for you paul, how much vacuum are you getting at idle now with the new manifold on there?

I'm redoing the whole cold side pipe hopefully this weekend. that maf is in a 3" pipe, it's about a 12" section though rest is 2.5 before and after, which is whats probably causing problems. I'll post updates when i get some results
what 06black was telling me before was to run 3" from the maf straight to the tb, but keep it short like 5 or 6 inches so it doesn't effect pr building. which means i have to lengthen the harness for the maf(no problem for me). thanks for the info on the vacuum. but is that in hg or psi. i have to purchase a new spring for my bov, and i needed someone with a similar setup to guage from.
