This will do for now, nitrous isn't out of the question for next year...infact its a very good possibility.

I wanted to, but you can't drill a 5x100 pattern inside a 4x100 pattern, one of the holes overlaps.

You would have to oval that hole out because a 5 lug wheel pattern distance isn't measured across the centre of the bore. If you look at a diagram of how to measure bolt patterns you will see what I mean, its kinda hard to explain.

Basically tho, it won't work
A city without 93!? I would die! You could run 12.5:1 on 91, depending on your altitude, but I think the raise in combustion would be negated by a subsequent decrease in the amount of timing you could run. Nitrous on 11.5:1 would be kill though! I would only run it on race gas though, just to be super safe. I have been dreaming lately of a nitrous fed LE5... 3 stage, 200 shot would be fun!

Updates:

Header should be here early April.
Drag Slick finally cleared through customs (after being there for only 16 days!) so hopefully have them by weeks end.
Looking at May for my head to be done, hopefully sooner....but good things come to those who wait...lol

Hopefully this thing will run for early June...but its looking like that may be a stretch.

Tires!

I couldn't wait so me and my buddy mounted them in his garage...lol

Tire and Rim only come in at 20lbs as well. Thats 10.5lbs lighter, per side, than my drag tires from last year, so I just got rid of 21lbs of rotational mass = 180-210lbs of static mass.....

Small Updates:

Trigger wheel showed up (Thanks again Phil!!!)

Clutchnet.com, 6-puck (un-sprung hub) with upgraded pressure plate is ordered. Went with the 6-puck for a bit more drivability.

Mike is still working on the head and header....hopefully they will be finished up soon.

All J-Bodies are 5x100.....I have adaptors in the mail 5x100 ->4x100, might look into swaping to a 4x100 hub later, but the adaptors will work for now.

Wait so are you going to drive with 4x100 wheels all the time now or does swapping to drag wheels involve changing wheel studs? I know the stock cavy wheel studs are too damn short as it is. And by too short I mean I have to run the stock acorn style lug nuts to be legal to drive it at auto-x or the strip because normal lug nuts wouldnt have enough exposed thread.

Short studs will stay in...depending on the thread engagement I have with the stock 16" alloys, I might have to run steelies all the time from now on.....which sucks...but I'll live with it.

Back to the Chrome 3-spoke hub caps! Gonna look super sleeper-ish now..lol

More pics, it looks worse from the front due to the way the fenders narrow towards the center of the car.

That being said, they still do stick out quite far.

Ditching the wheel adaptors.....that was a bad idea...gonna go in a new direction.

Anyone have a 4x100 cobalt hub kicking around and a digital caliper? I need two quick dimensions.

hello again.

Progress has been slow as ****, on account of not having my head or header yet....

Decided to say **** it and order a new set of Bogart wheels, which is what I should of done in the first place.

This came in tho, built to order Cometic HG, 89mm bore, 0.030" thick and some ARP flywheel bolts.

Clutchnet 6 puck unsprung clutch is also in, picking it up at my buddies on Sunday.

Other than that I have no updates

Thanks...it should do the job.

I mean a Sunfire is possibly one of the least cool cars ever....but that's why I like it.

The cops don't bug me, d-bags don't try and race me at ever light and it surprises people at the track......what more can you ask for?

Oh well, by June 1st this project will be moving forward one way or another.

Some Updates:

Head and Header are shipping this week.

New Bogart wheels ship tomorrow or thursday (hopefully in time for the season opener on the 5th) Gonna see how quick I can get the car in its current trim...13.6??13.7?? Time will tell.

Went to the Summit Racing retail store in Ohio on the weekend, took a road trip with the boys.....also went to Norwalk speedway and get a tour of Livernois Performace in Dearborne, MI....awesome shop!!

Picked up a few things:

Crank Evap Kit

3" short radius turn down for the new exhaust this year

This awesome tire pressure gauge just for slicks....finally a pressure gauge that doesn't suck ***** at low PSI

A quick pic of my new ARP studs, turns out they are only 3.25" long...only..lol

Thats it for now.
