need opinions on what to do
need opinions on what to do
so i have no compression in my 4th cylinder, and im thinking its a whole in my piston considering how that spark plugg had the end all mushroomed up. i found a shop that will work on it for $85 an hour but im not really sure how many hours it would take them to do new pistons (and maybe valves and valve springs, not sure on them yet), does anybody have an estimate of how long it would take an experienced mechanic?
Second option is buying a replacement engine off of CED.com, but im not sure how much shipping would cost, has anyone bought one of them?
Third option is buying a engine from a junk yard.
i have about 2 grand right now and still saving but i wanna know the best way, im going to be selling the car or trading it in within the next year for a truck.
need some opinions, thanks.

dude if you want i can help u get the engine out, and take the head off and pistons off... atleast that might save you some money when you bring it to the shop to get it worked on... all they have to do is swap pistons rather than pull it all apart... let me know
if your gonna pull it all apart, its only a hammer tap away from pulling the pistons out..
i agree if your going to do that much work just go all the way, but doing internal jobs takes precision, if you are not an experienced mechanic with the correct tools it can be a very tedious job. i have been a certified technician for three years and have only done a handful of head and block jobs, however, each one has given me more problems than i care to share so my advice is to take to someone who can do the whole job right the first time. and again you will run into problems doing it on your own so if you decide to take that route be prepared and get alll the necessary information on torque specs, steps, and pray... alot. Just food for thought.
yea i meant taking the pistons out... but putting them in isnt so easy lol
...been a mehanic for 4 years working full time...rather leave the measuring to the engine builders... as far as specs...ive got the info on things i need
