OFFICIAL Blown 4-banger build updates!
Tore apart the tranny yesterday. Took several hours, and two transmission experts scratching their heads, but we got it.
5th gear was a bitch and end up getting destoryed in the process

We finally split the housing and pulled the guts out

Neither one of the guys working on it, had EVER seen shift linkage like this

We also took apart the diff (LSD)

We decided the differential was built by super advanced aliens, while the transmission was built by Satan.

So now the transmission sits like this

Too bad. If you had asked, I may have been able to borrow the special tool from work here.
I can send you my extra 5th gear off of my car, free of charge... all I ask is that I can borrow your tools to tear apart the trans. I just need to be able to get the case apart, and get the second gear Synchro off. And then, if you want my 5th gear... I'm gonna need the tool, if you can borrow it.

Question for you Cam...
Did you happen to test fit OEM wrist pins in the small end of your Crower rods yet? I know your probably going to be using the pins CP gave you, but just curious if you did or if you can.
I figured the Diamond wrist pins would be too big to fit, because they were too big for OEM rods, but even the OEM pins won't fit into the Crower rod. So much is going to be needed to be honed away, it is probably going to remove all the bearing surface.
These rods were also listed as 2.2/2.0, which technically shouldn't be the case.

Yeah, that kinda sucks for you man if you bought a set of rods. My rods were custom made, off the dimensions of the stock rod I sent them. The oem wrist pin fits perfectly into my rods, as well as the CP pistons wrist pins. My crower rods are EXACTLY the same dimensions as my stock rods.
Hes talking about my rods.
And the only different aspect of our rods looks to be the pin bushing....
about how much bushing material do you have left on your rod? approx...caliper reading if at all possible. Thank you.

Got my main bolts, and replacement 5th gear today. That means that I can get everything cryo frozen, then get the tranny reassembled, then while the head work is getting done, I can begin to reassemble the motor!!!
